No, the Olympic story is a kayfabe story from wrestling but its not true

All the brothers were on drugs really bad, a lot of people believe David died from a pill overdose in Japan, not the enteritis story that was put out to the public, supposedly Bruiser Brody was the first one in Davids room and flushed some pills down the toilet before the authorities arrived

This movie was full of BS that Im just itching to talk about so any other questions you got, fee free to ask away!

Ole Pete's been silent for too long!!
Only thing I don't think is plausible us an 80s pro rassler flushing pills.......Brody would've keistered the bottle so he could use them later imo.

In Gary Hart's book(which also has a lot of BS in it so take this story for what you will) he says he saw one of the sons, I think Kevin, finally stand up to Fritz and say youre not gonna beat me anymore, when Kevin was in his 20's!
Thats a little too old to still be beating your kids

I personally think Fritz gets too much blame because adults make their own choices but at the same time children reflect their parents, if you got a buncha fucked up kids then you prolly wasnt Ward Cleaver

Childhood is a pivotal time for mental and emotional development. You can seriously fuck someone up during that time. Its really very sad. I agree, that people need to not be victims and confront their issues, though. But also not everyone is born with the same amount of resilience. Fortunately for me I had a lot of resilence, meth head mom, lived in battered women shelters, mom coming down off meth let me get put in a kids psych ward in Hayward, dad broke my orbital when I was 15 and did 9 months in Elmwood, dad getting me drunk when I was 11 etc. And I never blamed them, I knew since I was 14 that being a victim wouldn't help me. And it still took a war in Iraq to finally crack Ol Rex. But having said all that I wouldnt be very compassionate and empathetic if I didn't understand that some people can't take all that especially stuff from when they were kids by some psycho.

Was Mike brain damaged from the shoulder surgery? Was Kerry the most successful brother? Was the dad really that bad?

Yea, Mikes story was true, he had brain damage and was never the same again, he was like a walking zombie after he came back, dead eyes and no sparkle left, was really obvious that he never fully recovered

Kerry won the NWA title when that was thee absolute #1 championship in wrestling and then he won the WWF Intercontinental title back when that was still a big deal so yea, he was by far the most successful

It damn sure ain't MJF!

PATHETIC!
You know it's bad when even Big Tone is like "damn, cowboy up, man."

Believe me I understand all too well, I went through every kind of abuse you could possibly imagine as a child, shits fucked up and thats why I eat and drink my pain away today
I empathize with anyone thats losing their battle and dont judge them for it, but like you said, you gotta find the strength to keep going
Im not saying Fritz is without blame, not at all, Im just saying I dont place 100% of it on the parents, these were grown men with the means to get help and they made different choices

Did mike break his bone because he wasn’t fully trained?

I really wanted Jerry Jarrett to say "wwelllll yyouuu knowww" when he was negotiating with Kevin. <Lmaoo>. He was probably the best casted wrestling character, looked and acted a lot like him in that brief scene

Did mile break his bone because he wasn’t fully trained?

Mike was like 98 lbs when he was wet and wearing boots, I think thats the reason he was so frail, he didnt have what his 3 older brothers had, Fritz pushed him too hard too fast because he wanted Mike to replace David but that was never gonna happen

I think Mikes death is the one that can be directly blamed on Fritz more than the other two

Wait he was 98 pounds? Smaller than Kerry? He looked David size in movie!

Yeah, I don't blame him 100%. But it seems like he had a pretty substantial effect on them which has been studied extensively - childhood trauma. The mind is like a computer, it can be hacked and certain circumstances can be added to either help or hurt us. And there are key points as children where its known they can do it easier. Not saying Fritz was some dark arts psychologist or anything but when you play around with kid's minds it can go bad and some people don't recover. Like you said, yourself, you still drink and eat your pain away. I'm also looking at this from a perspective of a dad with teenage sons who love them more than my own life. I spend a lot time trying to get them strong for life because essentially I agree with you. We have to rise above the pain and suffering. And unfortunately not everyone makes it. My hope is to one day help people make it and guide them to a better way. I feel I will accomplish that.

I really never understood why Fritz didn't get his son's help for their drug abuse. I know the 80's were a different time especially in a hyper masculine world like pro wrestling in Texas as far as things like rehab but damn, they were all functioning drug addicts and he just seemed to not care.

The Chowchilla kidnapping documentary that I watched a few weeks ago took an unexpected turn halfway through it
I guess that case was one of the first milestones in the fight to get childhood trauma recognized as a medical condition or something like that, I dont know I kinda tuned out at that point, I was only interested in the nuts and bolts of the crime but you may find it an interesting watch for that part of it

And the mom seemed kinda useless. Like zac e from tried to get her to intervene on the baby’s behalf and she didn’t b

Gotta keep kayfabe.

"They were able to save Kerry's foot.......and it's anticipated he'll have a complete recovery."
