If you did swapsies with Trudeau and Putin and said hey a person of Vlad's intellect and experience, you have to lead Canada, and tell a person of Justin's intellect and experience (skiing instructor and substitute drama teacher???) you have to lead Russia, what would happen? Trudeau would be out within a year. Putin would have multiple terms in Canada.
Because intellect is all it takes... Everything that has made Putin popular is antithetical to what would make you popular in Canada. Aggression, appeals to traditionalism, exiling of political opponents... corruption, and so on, wouldn't make him a great politician in a free, democratic Canada.

This is the level of naivety seen when someone says that a Basketball player or a pro-Wrestler would just fuck everybodies shit up in MMA or Boxing because dude look at how athletic they are. By the way, Putin is pretty shit-tier as far as dictators go, for whatever that is worth. He isn't even as good at it as his partner Lukashenko. Russia still has all levels of society that can resist, and he can't even prevent his own young men from fleeing his war until hundreds of thousands have already fled.

Not really, the analogy is more like Kevin Durant going to some mediocre level Euroleague to play basketball. And some journeyman basketball player in New Zealand trying to compete in the NBA.

If the rules were changed significantly, and if you can be booted from the league just because people don’t like you. Excellent analogy, I agree.

I don't think he'd be in prison, there wouldn't be a need nor opportunity. What I'm getting at is people adjust to their surroundings. Trudeau obviously has a fairy-tale job that even amateurs could do. Putin not so much.

Trudeau would not had turned democratic Russia into an authoritarian hellhole.

Putin was an intelligence agent and worked in other areas of government in the convoluted world of European politics. Trudeau.... taught drama and how to snowboard.

Putin was a clerk, he was no Russian James Bond.

Putin has set back Russia a 100 years with his invasion of Ukraine.
It has gone horribly. He is now sending old men to the Ukraine. People are breaking their own arms so they cant be drafted. Millions of Russians have fled the country, and most of those were intellectuals so he has created a brain drain. This is colossal fuck up by Tiny Putin of epic proportions.
He showed the world his military is garbage. Russia will basically be North Korea with oil reserves. A shit country with Nukes whose leaders have fucked them.
Putin did not have to invade Ukraine, he could have built his country into an economic power house, but he has made so it will be a long time until that will happen.
Trudeau, cucked Trump but is a progressive, so I guess most people will choose the guy who ruined his country over the progressive which goes to show, how manipulated the MAGA conservative has been by MAGA media.

Its not a lie. Prior to the invasion in 2022, Putin or Zelensky etc. wasn’t really in the news cycle or the collective consciousness that much at all. Crimea being annexed by Russia was 8 years old news and de facto part of the status quo for a lot of people.

In December 2021, when this thread was started, Putin was just some strongman leader of a country far far away that no-one really thinks about. What is your opinion of the president of DR Congo? I don’t know, don’t really care!
I think the point you're missing is that even before this thread was started there was ample evidence that Putin was a warmonger given that the 2022 invasion is a continuation of the 2014 invasion. So hiding behind the idea that we didn't know he would invade Ukraine rings hollow to me when he already had enough reason to think Putin was an evil person. Comparing him to the president of the DRC is pretty dishonest, Putin has been in power for decades and is one of the most recognizable world leaders.

Tough to say on the first point. If a guy like Trudeau was somehow able to become leader of Russia (which would be pretty impossible) he'd probably get pushed out by an authoritarian. But anyways, Trudeau is a potato where the big decision of the day for him is what pandering pair of socks to wear. And whittling down over a decade in the KGB as "being a clerk" seems rather dramatic. Regardless, doing a resume comparison between him and Trudeau doesn't favor Trudeau. What favors Trudeau is he is from a super-comfy country politically and not the leader of arguably our most adversarial nation, and to be successful in Russian politics you have to be cut throat and nasty. I would still favor Putin's experience and political knowledge all in all if they hypothetically managed to be in the same environment.

Best Trudeau hate thread ever. Even the people quasi-defending trudeau are comparing him to putin. How shitty of a leader do you have to be to be neck and neck with putin lol.

The thing is what exactly about Trudeau even really makes him a leader? His "vision" is for the country to have no identity. He's beyond cookie cutter. And hit lines like "peoplekind" instead of "mankind", "because it's 2015"!. It just seems he goes to the World Economic Forum or G-whatever meetings, and takes notes, and passes them on to people. He's had dorky scandals like blackface costume enthusiasm, and doing Mr. Dressup on tours.

Like seriously, it's just plucking any half-decent college grad and telling them "you're now the leader of a country".

Putin is a very corrupt guy in a very corrupt country, but he seems like someone able to play chess and Trudeau is the checkers guy.

I didn't konw Trudeau did any of that.

I mean, maybe I'm ignorant but he was what, filling in for a drama teacher, then said, hey , guess I'll go into politics and became like the leader of a country in two years based on what? It's like could you imagine being a fill in drama teacher, joining Goldman Sachs as a senior exec then becoming CEO in two years?

The whole thing is absurd. Couldn't you just put a potato that spits out cheesy lines and make that the PM of Canada? If it wasn't for his face and father, Biden and Putin probably would have to struggle to remember what his name is.
We got him for the same reason you guys got your senile old puppet, just change the name. "Anyone but Harper", just replace Harper with Trump.

The thing is, he's the flip side of the Trump coin. No substance, no relevant education, no experience, never had to earn a living, doesn't give a single flying fuck about the average Joe and gets by on image and rhetoric alone. Both embarrassments as well. The guy isn't qualified to manage a McDonald's nevermind a country.

Biden is based though

Bah. He's a racist old fuck with his finger in the air gauging the political winds. A hollow shell who's even more that in his dotage.

We're embarrassing ourselves in NA.
Trudeau
Harris
Biden
Trump
Hillary

A nitwit, a criminal whore, and three defective fossils. Sad!

They're electing far right kooks and centrist pushovers in Europe but we're the ones embarrassing ourselves? Come on now, Biden is saving their asses and Eurocucks are still ungrateful.

Don't forget the "shessesion"

The point that you are missing is that at the time of when the poll was taken, Trudeau was unpopular, in the news cycle and having a direct negative effect on peoples’ lives and a lot of people in the west could sympathize with them as they were sick the COVID measures. Putin was hardly in the news cycle at this time and Zelensky was barely known.

I’m sure that if the poll, taken in December, read: “Trudeau or Mugabe?” (Any other random dictator for that matter), a lot of people would have voted for Robert Mugabe (in jest), just to stick it to Trudeau. That would not mean that if they had a gun to their heads and had to choose, they would actually be booking flights to Zimbabwe … smh.

If your argument is that you guys who voted Trudeau are ignorant then yeah fair enough I can't disagree with that.

You keep trying to compare Putin to some barely known African dictator but that just rings as dishonest to me, Putin is a far more influential figure on the world stage. His barbarism is not some secret, in that is probably why he was chosen for this poll. If you really didn't know of his assassination of dissidents and invasion of Crimea then idk what to tell you.

I am not comparing Putin to Mugabe, I was making a point that if you made a poll of Trudeau v (random dictator), at the time the poll was taken, a lot of people would have voted for Trudeau … out of jest, just to stick it to Trudeau.

Didn’t Chomsky (and other leftists) say that Trump was worse than Hitler? I’m sure if you put a gun to their heads and asked them which leader they would rather live under, they would probably pick Trump.

I guess, I should have replied to these people and said “Well, umm, ahckchully, do you realize Hitler did XYZ?”. … it’s like, ya we know! They are making a point using hyperbole and not being absolutely sincere. SMH
