Part of the problem is the EU were dumb and didn't forsee a need to remove EU members, so there is no process to expel EU members. They didn't anticipate that they would have bad-faith members like Hungary actively working against them for Russia from within.

I think they are still hoping that Orban sees the light of day, and realizes that Russia is going to lose the war. But part of the problem is that Orban has obvious done a bunch of illegal shit and spied for the Russians, and Putin has all the blackmail. So he can't ever turn against Russia or else he will end up in jail.

Yep, and as a fake democracy - as with all Russia's satellites, which Ukraine avoided becoming - there's little hope of getting rid of Orban outside of his death.

That's even with Magyar being more popular.

Guarantee Putin safe flight to Hungary but when he's there you don't let him fly back.

Hopefully one of these days Trump will actually stop letting Putin manipulate him. Even after their last call Trump was suddenly more hesitant about Tomahawks and said that the US needs them. How many times can Putin pull this off?

I agree with you.

Putin is a thug that only respects strength and power. I know Trump is trying to find a peaceful diplomatic solution, and I commend him, but ultimately I think he will need to break Putin's nose to show him he means business.

For those who aren't aware, this is a classic Russian diplomatic strategy. There are no legal routes for Putin to reach Hungary. His ICC arrest warrant and the EU's stance on Russia makes it impossible for him to travel through EU countries to reach Hungary for a meeting in Budapest.

So why would Russia even agree to the meeting? It's a trap for Donald Trump. By getting Trump to accept the meeting, Russia will frame the EU as uncooperative when they refuse to break their own rules to allow Putin to travel to Hungary. This is design to drive a wedge between Donald Trump and the EU -- and Trump is too stupid to understand this.

1) EU counters to Putin/Trump that they will let Putin's jet fly through EU space, but Trump must agree that the EU & Ukraine will be present at all meetings between Trump and Putin, with an equal "seat at the table" -- also Putin must agree to meet with Zelensky directly during this mulilateral meeting.

When Russia refuses that,

2) Tell Putin Hungary can figure it out once he's in their airspace, but Putin's "flying Kremlin" jet will be banned from entering EU airspace. So he can catch a ride on a diplomatic jet of Turkiye or another country to reach Hungary.

When Putin refuses because that would be humiliating,

3) Tell Trump that Putin is the problem, and he will not be allowed in EU airspace, but propose that the meeting happen in Turkiye.
 
Update: The meeting is already falling apart:

-EU refuses to allow Putin transit through their airspace
-Putin has already rejected Trump's peace offer
-Putin re-asserted his demand that Ukraine cede all of the Donbas + Crimea for a "maybe ceasefire" (not even a real offer Ukraine can accept)

I feel like it's theater where everybody in America and Europe have to pretend like Europe has any kind of legitimate sovereignty and isn't just a giant block of puppet countries that cooperate with America to continue being a global resource parasite.

He doesn't control the air space in the countries between Hungary and Russia, so he doesn't even get a say in the matter.

Since WW2, we’ve been involved in a lot of unjust half assed wars which really didn’t amount to anything but shame. Despite this, in an all out war with our survival at stake, no other country stands a chance.
