Putin makes Holocaust denial a criminal offence punishable by up to five years in jail.

Should we have laws like this in America?

I'm not a ............, but.............

This sentence structure never ends well.

Its to increase anti-German sentiment in the Russian society.
Putin is not blind he is aware that the Germans are back and are very successfully increasing their influences into Eastern Europe.
And this time they have the rest of Western Europe behind them. Look how many territories Germany was able to bring into its sphere of influence just since reunification.
And the people joined voluntarily and peacefully the best kind of empire building.
And all Putin has to show for it is the Crimea and some Georgian territories. He knows in 70 or so years the Germans are going to try and incorporate the Russians as well.

He doesn't exactly have any reasonable argument why that should not happen. While a lost cause, I can see why he tries.
Sounds crazy. On Russian TV almost everyday in political shows (on channels owned by government) you have Russian politicians and experts who says that Merkel wants to be friend with Russia and remove sanctions, German politicians wants to recognize Crimea, German business wants to sell their stuff in Russia, but American bastards controls them and prevents them from doing that.
I think also someone like Zhirinovsky said that Americans are afraid of union between Germany and Russia. And I think before he was saying something like that it was a big mistake of Hitler that he started a war against USSR, like instead we should have form a union and crush other Europeans and America. Oh, and I think there were some controversy because he said something along the lines that it's Americans who forced Hitler to start a war against Soviet Union, I think he also said that Hitler was friendly towards USSR but it's that American bastard capitalists who forced him to start a war.

Yeah, I think Germany has the closets relationship with Russia from all western countries. Especially economically Germany is Russia's largest trading partner.
We are also building that pipeline together. And we still have a lot of ties to Russia from the East German days. In general, I don't Germany is in favor of Russia sanctions.

But what I actually meant is the new generations of Russia in 30 or so years are going to ask questions why a country with massive natural resources offer such a shitty life for the average Russian.
The only thing Russia is a world leader is billionaires.
They will look to former Soviet countries like Poland or the Czech Republic and wonder they flourished so much after joining the EU. Maybe we should be going the same route.
That, of course, is something people like Putin would like to avoid. They just want to keep selling the natural gas and pocket the money themselves.

Once you make questioning a narrative illegal, that narrative's legimitacy is never in doubt. This just shows who is pulling Putin's strings.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD, the derpfest got started right away in this thread.

A bit of joke in black humor but I've seen some stats that said that Russia holds number one position in the world in the rate of missing people/people that were found. If I remember it right it was like that - from people that went missing in a year in Russia only 10 % (or something like that, maybe it was 11 or even less than 10) is found. But I think I've seen these numbers a couple of years ago maybe situation is better now.
Just remembered there were something about suicides, like Russia was a world leader in suicides of children but I think Russia is not number 1 every year in this stats + I think Russia also had world leadership years ago in some suicide stats, like suicides in numbers or in percents or suicides amon old people.

And about the law - I think it might be to shit on Ukraine or other ex-USSR countries. Like, for example not so long ago on Russian TV channel Zvezda, owned by Russian Ministry of Defence they said on one programme that Armenians are glorifying Nazis and signed some agreement with EU and host of programme said that are Armenia are going the same route as Ukraine. I think back from when I was a kid they said on TV that Latvians and other Baltic states are pro-Nazi because they treat veterans of SS like heroes; Ukraine are pro-Nazi because they respect and treat like heroes their guys who fought against the Soviets and worked for Reich and because, I think, they have nationalistic organizations and nationalistic marches. Also I think not so long ago Russia proposed some stuff about banning Nazism in UN and they still shitting in political TV shows on Ukraine and US because the voted against it. I just heard it again right now in political TV show (but guy said that this anti-Nazi stuff from UN General Assembly).

I think that was explain to you. But like all crazies you will ignore what you want to push your lie.It hard to cover up such mass murders especially when you lose the war.

What lie? It's a historical fact that they were off by 3 million for 45 years. Are you disputing this? If it's impossible to cover up then why aren't people allowed to study and question it? Is there any other historical event that people are forbidden from studying?

because it is true. The germans are pragamatic they know the two countries not need be best friends and have similar politics to have good economic relations. what i think will happen in coming years is hungary and poland those who dislike EU liberal agenda will turn east. They won't leave EU and if they ever did no way they join the russian led EEU. But i think they anti russian views will go away as that sphere of world will be better than them being forced by EU to do things.

Nobody is forbidden from studying it. Idiots are forbidden from speculating or lying.

Around 3 million, which has gradually risen to 7 million. It grows by 10k every time someone criticizes the disgusting actions of the American/Jewish military outpost called Israel.
What a complete load of horse shit.

For the 11 people who voted yes, I'm glad you had the freedom to vote the way you wanted and speak your part.

You are also fucking retarded!

In several countries it's illegal to question any part of the official narrative.

Yes, that's what I said: it's illegal for idiots to lie about it. What you said is that it was illegal to study, which is stupid.

I have always been a free speech advocate, especially regarding political speech. I don't see a need for these laws. I think they are stupid. I mean, if someone wants to claim the Holocaust never happened, what's the big deal? You can just tell them they are ridiculous and move on.

Has Putin done the right thing? Should we have laws like this in America?

I find holocaust denial to be pretty shocking, but jailing people for forming an opinion (no matter how stupid) is obviously a 1st amendment violation. Should we jail flat-earthers too?

In certain countries it is illegal to question it, why are you playing dumb?

If, in your studying (which is perfectly legal), you find proof that information about the holocaust has been fabricated on a mass scale you are perfectly able to submit it to international publications and literally change history.

What you are lamenting is that it's illegal in several countries for fucktards to spread disinformation on the internet or by handing out flyers on the street corners.

You are like watching Season 1 of The Office. I cringe so hard out of embarrassment for you that it's not even enjoyable to make fun of it.
