Prometheus is underappreciated.

I think if Alien Covenant is a great film, than people will look back at Prometheus and give it more credit. But Alien Covenant needs to answer questions that Prometheus didn't answer.

But me personally I give Prometheus a 7/10. Main issue is I couldn't relate or connect to any of the characters and a lot of beyond stupid decisions made by the characters. I mean really stupid shit.

Same.. I would rate it 7.. Believe I might have rated it 8 when I first watched it. It's a decent film.. Not bad.. not great. I liked it.. Watched it three times.

All the humans were frustratingly stupid or awkward

Totally retarded characters ruined that film

The level of stupidity of the characters and the plot holes made it pretty rough,

Name a horror movie in which all the characters are geniuses.

The original cast of Alien weren't on Einstein's level of intellect.

Seriously, in this genre of movie, it's pretty much a requirement for the majority of the characters to be borderline retarded.

I though it was underappreciated as well. Yes the characters were stupid, but that was just more reason to root for their death. It wasn't good as Alien or Aliens, but I never expected it to be.

I can't wait for Alien: Covenant

I'm about here, maybe I like it more but yeah not just the characters but the entire film seems to make a significant error somewhere along the line. Like it means to zag right but turns an ankle and don't you just hate when that happens.

I've seen it a few times now. I will give Ridley Scott credit for the abortion scene that still makes me want to look away even after seeing it a couple times already.

I loved the movie the first time I watched it. Then after watching a couple more times, I couldn't get over how dumb some of the Character decision's were.

I have really high hopes for Alien Covenant. I haven't been this excited for a movie probably ever, which is crazy because I'm not a huge Alien fan or anything.

let me rephrase

annoying characters

One more word and you'll be charged with contempt.

PROS:
I love the whole Alien universe (it's not dead BTW).
The lore and story has huge potential.
Introduction of the Engineers was a cool direction to take.

CONS
Idiot characters exploited as dumb plot devices. So dumb in fact that you're ripped from the movie with WTF moments.
Knowing that the movie could have been so much better.

I was so torn at times at enjoying the movie's atmosphere and the mystery of the story. Then I be yanked out of the immersion, thinking "Well, that was f'ing stupid"

Most horror movies don't feature characters that are supposed to be highly intelligent scientists on a space exploration mission. Just lazy writing to kill them off IMO. Things would be way more scary and believable if the characters didn't act so retarded. Missed opportunity.

Turd of a movie.

Fucking scientists don't have the sense of not risking their genius dumbasses and playing around with that cobra assmunch thing.

The stupidity of the characters dragged the story down. They could have easily made them not do stupid shit and still killed them. Between the alpha predator aspect of the aliens, and the backstabbing of the android. The scientists could have done things by the book and still lost.

Luckily the visuals and the lore were so awesome that I didn't harp on these dumb details. And made for a generally enjoyable viewing experience.

Could have used a little more engineer history and interaction.

The level of stupidity of the characters and the plot holes made it pretty rough, for example:

"Oh I'm a geologist? I'm not interested in other worldly minerals and rocks at all, I just want to go home" -Prometheus geologist
cant agree more with this. the so-called world's best specialists in their respective fields were some caricatures of who knows what. a joke, in other words.
and so was Theron's character.

You kidding about the first Alien movie? I have to seriously disagree with you here.

I'm tempted to give an extended diatribe on why you're wrong about the first Alien. I'm trying to think of a moment when the crew make an idiotic decision... Possibly the guy looking for his cat alone. But even then the crew had no way of knowing the Alien had grown exponentially. Sure, they may have made a few mistakes, but they were 100% believable mistakes, like bringing Kane aboard the ship after Ripley was going to deny him access due to quarantine.

That was a true a emotional mistake. I remember even agreeing with the rest of crew about bringing him aboard and thinking Ripley was being a jerk, even though I was only a little kid when I first watched in 80'. There was even the brief moment of relief when it looked like Kane was going to be ok after all... leading to one of the best fucking scenes ever in a movie, ever. There was none of that in Prometheus.

Dallas's plan to trap the Alien almost worked, but was sabotaged by the android Ash, who was secretly trying to follow directives given to him by the company.

Ok, I'll stop now... lol

I liked it a lot. Still do. Layered movie with lots to think about without being spoon fed my sci-fi.

I liked it but was also annoyed by plot choices. The story line was muddled as well. Overall I would rather watch this than a Michael Bay movie.

The gift bearer fan edit really makes the movie more palatable.

It had outstanding visuals, and an interesting premise.

Beyond that it had several problems.

Still happy they made it, but I think it could have done with more work.

Guess I can agree with TS. Prometheus is somewhat underappreciated.

Prometheus is one of my favorite movies. It was a horror/mystery movie to me. I was shitting my pants when they finally woke the giant human like alien. I cant wait for the sequel.
