Prometheus is underappreciated.

Hell no. Everyone acts like a teenager in a horror movie, although they're all supposedly intelligent scientists. The plot ultimately goes nowhere, and other than the visuals there is really nothing that makes the movie worth watching.

I'm probably one of the very few Sherdoggies that loved the movie.

I appreciate the shit out of it. So much that I don't want to watch any of the Alien: Covenant trailers. I read a 2 sentence synopsis and so much has changed since Prometheus that the concept is a major spoiler. I feel like watching the movie is enough for me. Prometheus was so amazing that you could tell me that there is a sequel and I don't need anything else to sell me on it.

The only redeeming thing was that the seemingly plain redhead chick turned out to have an amazing body during the self-surgery scene. That's it.

Most of it was idiotic. Oh the Engineers are hyper-intelligent creator beings, eh? I'm glad the moment one wakes up he wails atonally, then proceeds to thrash about like a vanilla gorilla - super advanced.
If you paid attention in the scene, you'll notice they have a gun pointing at him. Never understood this criticism. All the pieces are there for him to respond that way. You need to really focus when watching a movie. I can give you tips, I run an online course on film analysis. Just send me a PM!

I agree that on repeated watch, most will roll their eyes so hard on the characters decision making. I'm stoked on Covenant as well, I hope it's a good entry to the franchise. I haven't watch any trailers to prevent spoiling shit for myself.

I've seen the trailer's (numerous times) and I will say the second trailer that dropped maxed my hype level out. It is an amazing trailer.

Oh yeah man, there's layers there - like an onion. I'm just afraid to peel them all back; it might leave me in tears.

Can anyone explain to me why the engineers were running into that room where the door took off one's head (a head that was somehow perfectly preserved in a breathable atmosphere, I might add)?

Of all the possible rooms to run to for safety, which is seemingly what they were doing, why run into the room with all the bad shit inside of it?

They are pointing a gun at him, but I also think theres more. The engineer wakes up, now the engineer's technology is very biological, and wakes up to see what his people have created. He was already on his way to earth to destroy it, and now he sees what they created, a life form that creates artificial technology and they are selfishly begging him for answers. If you look at the engineer's reaction, when he talks to David, his reaction is one of a dumbfounded person. Then he see's his creator and the nonbiological technology holding him together, scowls, and destroys him. A theory I read says that the engineer's whole ideology is based around biological technology, and seeing their creations going in the opposite direction of themselves is an insult to what they created.

Some of the best looking trash ever put on screen.

Yeah.............Right!
Let's be honest here! When we fantasized about Space Jockeys before Prometheus, we were expecting to see Elephant Men.

Franco and McBride will destroy the movie. I want them to get killed first so I can enjoy the rest of the film. @OMGstreetfight

Breathed life back into a dead franchise. Engineers are awesome.

I agree I think a lot of people were expecting it to closer resemble an aliens movie. When I watched it on HBO I had no clue that it was supposed to be an Aliens flick. I just thought it was a good movie.

Looked spectacular. Characters spectacularly dumb ......I can't be arsed to point out all the problems I had with this film

That said I'm re-watching tomorrow in a build up to alien covenant

What more did you need beyond they were being attacked?

Why was the head perfectly preserved, and why of all the rooms to run to (in the event of an attack), did they enter the one with the black dangerous shit within? That they were attacked isn't enough to answer these questions.

That room was hermetically sealed once closed, perfectly preserving everything inside, which also suggests the room is the most secure -- nothing in or out.

By the act of running inside, we can infer the danger was greater on the outside. We don't know exactly what the attack comprised, but I speculate it's another Engineer-xenomorph hybrid.

The thing I don't get is how the attack on the engineers is connected with the engineer's mission to wipe out earth, so it seems like we're dealing with bits and pieces of two or more narrative plot-lines. The exposition is almost criminally unreliable.
