Prometheus is underappreciated.

Them staying didn't bother me, so much as how they managed to get lost, and the captain's nonchalant attitude about it.

"Lost, huh? Wellll, we're getting a little sleepy over here. Just stay put. We'll come get you in the morning."

I wasn't bothered by them staying either, just as I wasn't bothered by Brett looking for the cat. That isn't patently idiotic behavior; it just somewhat telegraphs their death (far from a fatal flaw). What bothered me were the same things that bothered you, either unrealistic or idiotic choices and behaviors.

Seen it 10x. Great film. Haters are missing out.

Yeah, I like the movie, but the stupid moments in the film are undeniable. The two scientist dudes were the worst offenders. Pretty sure one of them was even smoking weed through his helmet as well. Damn near everything those two did was just incredibly dumb, and something you would see in a parody of a sci-fi movie.

Yeah that didn't occur to me lol. I was also thinking about the AvP movies (not that they were ever canon) and how it retcons the idea of Predators ritually hunting Xenomorphs on Earth hundreds of years ago. But it's a shit franchise so no real loss there.

Didn't Predator 2 showed Xeno Queen Skull on their trophy room as well? So it's not really AVP.

The derelict ship in the original Alien had possibly thousands of Xeno eggs in its cargo hold. And the Space Jockey's body was decayed, almost fossilized and looked to be extremely old. Yet the events of Prometheus and Covenant would suggest this wreck could not have been more than twenty years old.
.

I don't think the ship for Prometheus is the same as the one in the first Alien film? Unless it's mentioned in Covenant that it's that ship, I haven't watch it, busy weekend. Will be watching in 2 days time.

I liked it a lot.
Planning on watching Alien Covenant this evening.

Loved it when I first watched it. The more I went back to it, though, the more glaring the dumb parts were.

Still, it has its moments; the alien C-section and Fifield going rage zombie out of the blue were both very intense sequences.

In Predator 2 it was a regular drone skull, not a queen. But I never took that easter egg seriously because Xenomorphs are supposed to have exoskeletons, like insects. Not an endoskeleton (what humans have), like what was depicted in Predator 2.

And yeah, in Prometheus it's two different ships on two different planets. But my point is that Prometheus implies the Xenomorphs did not exist in the 2090's. Ten years later (Covenant), we see proper Xenomorphs (I'm assuming, I still haven't seen the film). And another twenty years later, the crew of the Nostromo stumbles upon another derelict ship on another planet full of thousands of Xeno eggs. Only problem is, the derelict ship and remains of the Space Jockey look to be very old. Hundreds, possibly thousands of years old.

If the Xenos were only created twenty years earlier it's impossible for there to exist an "ancient" wreck with Xeno eggs in it. Promethus conflicts with what was shown in the original Alien. I know there was no explicit age mentioned in-film, but all evidence points to the wreck being very old. Not a mere eighteen, nineteen years old.

i liked it but you can poke it easily for lazy script writing, idk from what i remember for example:

- Not believable scientist which dont work with eachother and furthermore do not take any scientific approach about anything they do, hey lets us all take our space helmets on, great move, rushing in without any analysis

but i like this movie anyway, i have watched it like 3 times and i enjoy it, because its good sci fi

Ah.. I get what you mean. My memory of Prometheus is fuzzy, I forgot it's the silver jars with black goo instead of Xeno eggs. I agree the time span between Prometheus and Alien is too short for it to be realistic. I'm watching Covenant soon, maybe there might small hints of how it happened and I can share my opinion.

It was ok. I like the storyline they took, with exploring the engineers BUT I thought the character development and script was insulting to viewers. The scientists are made out to be boobs. A billionaire industrialist goes on a long journey seeking eternal life and he employs a bunch of amateurs.
