See, I would disagree. These are not rare occurrences at all. In the last five or so years, in Houston alone, 271 murders were committed by people out on bond or no bond. Now multiply that for the entire country and I think the harm is much greater than the damage you are mentioning.

Why? Because someone who went bankrupt, lost their job, and most future prospects, because they decided to take a plea deal for something they didn't do, rather than sit in jail for months or YEARS in some cases just awaiting a trial. That's a really shitty system.

I like the system you described a few posts above. It's how most criminal justice systems in the first world operate. The problem now is that commerical bond companies are HUGE business. So that lobby would fight hard against a change that would put them out of business.

Another issue is that courts are so clogged up that murder cases are being dropped and unable to be refiled if a preliminary trial does not occur. In Nola, and Miami, they call it the sixty day murder, where you’re accused of shooting someone and it happens so often, they can’t fit the prelim in, and that is a huge problem. They should drop cases or postpone those in order to fit those prelims in, but the defense lawyers ask for delays to get close to those sixty days.

I stand by my using pr bonds ONLY for non violent crimes, but as I demonstrated, this is clearly not happening. It is so common in Philly to release a car jacking suspect on a pr bond that people jokingly say “borrowing a car.”

They shot Justin because someone in their Fire Spinning group told the driver to slow down in the parking lot. They were racing through the parking lot at 50+ MPH. They came back with more guys in the car and two of them got out just shooting away. Justin tried to help the women escape and he then jumped in his car, but the guy ran up on him and shot him in the face.... dead. He was a really nice guy and way too small physically to start any shit.

Grey Honda Accord, but that's so general without plates. The attackers were as you would guess it for Long Beach, CA... but again not enough specifics.

Really sounds like the worst PD I have ever heard of. Doing a terrible investigation is one thing, but going around telling people all of the things they didn't do is next level incompetence. On top of it all they did it specifically because they thought the DA was soft. Again this all sounds highly unlikely to have actually happened, but if so those guys are terrible.
