Probably the most embarrassing title fight performance of all time

What an absolute embarrassment of a performance by Strickland. Hall of shame worthy.

The middleweight division is so weak that DDP seems like a world beater.
I thought you might be talking about Suarez from the title, her and Strickland's performances were pretty interchangable.

Props to DDP and horrible performance by Sean. DDp is awesome and leveled up but he still lost the first Sean fight, was not able to knock him out and nobody came close to dying in the ring. Fighters talk shit, its how they make their money so anything a fighter says before a fight is bullshit. Whatever. Mad props to DDP, he leveled up and probably won every round. "embarrassing title fight performance" I mean he is the only guy who can go to decision with the DDP and he has already beaten one of the guys who will be next in line so give me a break. That being said it was a horrible fight for SEan and DDP looked amazing.

If this guy didn’t talk shit and say controversial things, he would be cut from the ufc.

Zero power in his shots. He basically only throws jabs, teeps and pushes

It's actually kind of amazing how far he's taken this shit with such a limited skillset.

He has nothing but his shell and jabs. That's it.

I still see guys ragging on DDP's cardio, but that's actually what impresses me most. Does he have a tendency to look half dead during fights? Yes. I didn't notice it in this fight, and he wasn't even breathing heavy during the interview at all. I think this may be overstated.
He is just going for the kill the whole fight. He isn't out there just trying to win.
It looks like the old fights during Pride and early UFCs when guys actually tried to kill each other.

Some of those shots he landed would have finished most of the rest of the division. Strickland has a chin.

I would argue that Suarez's performance was more embarrassing. At least Sean landed shots here and there. Once Suarez couldn't keep Weili down after one round consistently it was over by the middle of the second round and Suarez never had a plan B (no pun intended).

Where's the pun?

I know I'm just a douchebag keyboard warrior but he's simply not willing to put himself at too much risk in there so it's always the same safe routine. Kinda crazy with all to the death talk.

Again, 23-2 record for DDP and 20 finishe. 2 of those 3 decision wins were against Strickland.

sure, because one guy is practically avoiding the fight. that's not defensively sound, that's afraid to take chances.

i said it after the first fight when people said "all Strickland has to do is turn it up in the next fight" and i said if he turns it up he's getting knocked out. defensively sound means he can actually bring the fight and stay safe, not just turtle the entire fight because you're afraid.

Jose Aldo is defensively sound, Strickland is just scared to do anything but jab.

DDP slowed down and forgot about a lot of his variety in round 3, when Strickland landed a right hook. He was basically getting shut out of landing head punches until round 4 when the overhand finally found the mark and broke Sean's nose. Even then, DDP took more punches to the face in the last two rounds than in the first two.

Kicks are harder on the ol' cardio than punches, so it's par for the course that DDP, like most fighters, throw fewer of them in later rounds. However, they did their job, winning him the early rounds and slowing down Strickland's movement (he got kicked a lot to the legs and body). If it was just boxing, Sean would likely had won, so good on DDP for doing his homework.

I rewatched Strickland vs. Izzy yesterday and it is significant how much more in Izzy's face Sean was in that fight - likely because Adesanya couldn't really find succes with his leg kicks.

It was bad but Tatiana's was even worse. Other than rd 4 all 5 rounds were competitive it was just DDP was more active.

Tatiana was getting thoroughly outclassed.

DDP/Zhang by decision parlay was nice at +950. Wish I threw more than $10 on it

I dunno, same card had Suarez getting outgrappled and looking clueless.

Which is amazing when you consider the bad position Weili ended up in at the start.

It looked like Tatiana had a massive grappling advantage, but Weili adjusted.

She's such a boss.
