Probably the most embarrassing title fight performance of all time

I would argue that Suarez's performance was more embarrassing. At least Sean landed shots here and there. Once Suarez couldn't keep Weili down after one round consistently it was over by the middle of the second round and Suarez never had a plan B (no pun intended).

I still see guys ragging on DDP's cardio, but that's actually what impresses me most. Does he have a tendency to look half dead during fights? Yes. I didn't notice it in this fight, and he wasn't even breathing heavy during the interview at all. I think this may be overstated.

He looks tired but he doesn't fight tired. That's what I noticed in rounds 4 and 5.

What an absolute embarrassment of a performance by Strickland. Hall of shame worthy.

The middleweight division is so weak that DDP seems like a world beater.
Sean has fully evolved into a Gym hero. He does not hold back in the gym, lets it fly, but when it’s time to really fight, he holds back, can’t pull the trigger.

throws primarily jabs, straights, and overhands. great takedown defense. good chin.

horrible offensive grappling. doesnt cut angles. doesnt kick. walks forward without chin tucked. never uppercuts or hooks. doesnt knee. doesnt elbow.

its just crazy how he made it so far with so many negatives about his fight style.

DuPlessis did his homework. His variety of kicks prevented Strickland from using his boxing advantage today, and, unlike the first fight, he now has the cardio to just keep blasting 'em. Not a great performance by Strickland, but considering he had to reset his nose mid fight and kept fighting to the finish line, I don't think it warrants shame.
DDP slowed down and forgot about a lot of his variety in round 3, when Strickland landed a right hook. He was basically getting shut out of landing head punches until round 4 when the overhand finally found the mark and broke Sean's nose. Even then, DDP took more punches to the face in the last two rounds than in the first two.

Yes, people always praise plodding guys who throw light strikes all night long and dunk on the guys who actually fight with intensity, not knowing they are comparing apples to oranges.

DDP is legit. Unorthodox, weird, but undeniably effective. And honestly, his technique was on point tonight.

Strickland’s performance? Absolutely pathetic. His coach straight-up told him he needed to make adjustments after R2, and it just went over his head.

For all the talk about being ready to die and going to war, that was a pretty weak showing.

The hyperbole here when a controversial fighter loses is always hilarious. There was a more damning title performance on this very card for Christ's sake.

This really has always been my biggest knock on Strickland. I wouldn't have a problem with his style at all if he didn't talk such a big game. Every fight buildup, he speaks as if he's on his way to decapitate someone in the octagon. The reality is, I don't know if he threw a single strike with fight ending power behind it. Maybe a few hail marys at the end. This is a pattern, not a one off
