not for lack of trying, werdum attempted a takedown and came about a mile short. he had no hope of getting stipe down.

they never go to the ground because stipe prefers to box and no one can take him down. the ones who have succeeded in taking him down couldnt keep him there for more than 30 seconds each. again, hes never lost the grappling aspect of any fight ever.

Alrighty then. I've proven you wrong on every point you made. At this point you're just talking shit. Whatever makes you sleep at night I guess

now how the hell would he be the most well rounded in the division when stipe is a far advanced striker technically speaking, and has never lost a grappling exchange, despite beating guys that controlled fedor on the ground?

i would say even werdum of today is even more well rounded than fedor was.

Mark Hunt didn't control Fedor on the ground. Fedor tried to Judo toss him and Hunt landed on top of him and did nothing and was submitted in the first round. Fedor beat him in 5 minutes... Stipe took three rounds.

He's also not a more advanced striker than Fedor.

And no Werdum isn't. Fedor had excellent striking, takedowns and a ground game and seamlessly transitioned between them. Werdum is good on the feet and is great on the ground but has terrible takedowns... which is why he has to pull guard and fake knockdowns constantly.

Past prime Fedor, lol

yeah dude, that was like his 5th pro fight, first in the ufc and beltran at the time had an iron chin. stipe took him down and controlled him way more in that fight, it was a 30-27. stipe dominated the grappling in that fight.

You keep insisting on "nobody can take him down."

Yet three people with bad takedowns have all taken him down.

nah, the very first post i made acknowledged that he would lose the poll. so...... yeah.

and thats because sherdog is full of casual/nostalgic fans. most come from pro wrestling.

spend five minutes analyzing the fight and youll realize fedors chances are slim to none.

Yup, nobody knows what they're talking about on Sherdog.

Thankfully there's one guy who just happens to be right about everything.

Thank God for Final Say.

Past prime Fedor, lol

He got knocked silly by Fujita who wasn't on JDS or Overeem's level. I also don't think Stipe was in his prime in the first Junior fight. I like Fedor and think he would beat most of today's top ten, but Stipe is a horrible matchup for him.

twice. that happened twice. mark hunt either reversed the td or swept and took top position two times. mark hunt is a terrible grappler.

fun fact: stipe still holds the all time strikes landed in a single fight record across any division because of that hunt fight. a heavyweight holds the record for most strikes landed in a single fight. in any divison. kind of fucking weird actually.

as far as stipe not being a more advanced sriker...... are ya kiddin? lol fedor was an explosive brawler with his hands. he didnt use much technique at all. quick and powerful, but not extremely skilled.

Stipe wasn't in his prime at 32 years old with a 12-1 record?

lmao

... do you think you made a point? yes, of course i voted for stipe. if anyone steps back and looks at the fight objectively with a fine toothed comb, theyd probably vote stipe too. its a fucking terrible match up for fedor.

lmao
so youre saying he didnt get any better after the first junior fight? if he was at his prime at 12-1 against junior, then he wouldnt have gotten any better. prime means peak, after the prime, comes the decline. the fact that he improved means he was not in his prime.

Brawler? lmao

You are an extremely uneducated viewer.

Fun Fact: Fedor didn't need to spend 5 rounds beating on Hunt to finish him......

im really tired of seeing this comparison. first of all, youre wrong about fighting guys his age. junior is younger than stipe. but i know youll back pedal and talk about the damage he took, which is actually legitimate.

my real gripe with this is that weidman is a terrible striker. he has no boxing. he has no kicks. he has no real striking game at all outside of the usual wrestler who just started training his striking. looping, winging hooks and overhands. mousasi dominated that fool standing up. weidman is nothing, nothing like stipe at all, especially standing up.

You're right. It isn't the same. Weidman fought in a deeper division.

That's cool then.

A non-prime Fedor beat Noguiera twice.... thats way more impressive than a non-prime Stipe losing to JDS.
