He looked like the same DC to me. He took Anderson down and through a ton of gnp with bad intentions. He tried to pass guard many times as well.
The only problem is that after the round 1 smothering Andersonw as too old and out of shape to take advantage of DC tiring and slowing down.
Cormier fully trained is just going to have an easier time taking Anderson down.
He possesses all the abilities that Weidman and Sonnen utilized to give Anderson fits, only he is much larger and more powerful than they are,can take strikes better than them, and trains daily with Cain Velasquez. Anderson landing some crazy unorthodox strike is all he can hope for against the relentless Olympic/AKA pursuit
The best version of DC is better than any fighter Anderson ever faced, and will always be the worst style matchup for him.
So Cormier was not fully trained?
.
DC's weight on him might have done that to anderson no matter how old he is. The size gap seemed too much for him.
Not for Anderson he wasnt.
And yet at 41 yrs old and the worst version of Anderson yet he showed he has all the tools to beat Cormier more times than not.
Anderson's lack of gas, speed, and movement seemed to be his biggest problem...not DC.
And yet at 41 yrs old and the worst version of Anderson yet he showed he has all the tools to beat Cormier more times than not.
hm?I accept your concession on the Weidman/Chael argument
Except maybe everything? He landed one body kick and spent the rest of the fight lying on his back trying to wrap Cormier up as tight as possible.
It's possible. This Anderson, with about 30 more seconds, might've beaten Cormier. We really don't know how much he was hurt there in those last moments.
