Prime Anderson Silva would beat Daniel Cormier

nope. Cormier would have trained for him proper and put him through the Monster energy drink logo

DC was coming off one of the most intense and determined training camps of his career. Silva had 0 training camp and is in his 40s.

Given the available data one should conclude that if DC was ever going to throw Anderson through the monster energy drink logo then this would have been the time. If DC couldn't do it to this version of Silva I have a very hard time thinking he would do it against Prime Silva.

I agree with you, but it will not be a popular opinion.

He wasnt gonna take the chance.Anderson is unpredictable even if you do train for him,so he just laid on him and mauled him up.next time, even prime anderson gets put through the rockstar energy logo, and they gotta give us an 80 minute intermission replaying the fight pass prelims to give them time to scrape anderson out of the octagon.

I think it would have been close. The Anderson that fought forrest was around 208lb. The Anderson that fought Bonnar was 202lb. The Anderson that fought tonight was about 197lb. That would help his TDD & tire DC out a little more.

I think the fight would go a bit like Conor v Mendes. Anderson gets taken down in rounds one and two, and stops him in the third.

To put things in perspective: A few weeks back, many people would have said that Prime Anderson gets stopped by DC in under two rounds… WELL…

41 year old Anderson, coming off a gall bladder surgery, with zero training, on two days notice, giving up 30lb, with pins in his leg, went all three rounds, took virtually zero damage, and landed the biggest strike of the fight.

I can't say 100% he would win, because it's MMA, and DC is a tough match-up, but after tonight, I honestly don't see DC being any tougher than the Dan Henderson Anderson fought in his prime.

[**In fact a prime Dan Henderson would fair a lot better against DC as well. Remember he was only 199lb as opposed to the 210ish he was in the past].

I remember hearing that Silva was 220lbs against James Irvin. Back then it was common knowledge that Silva was a HUGE MW. Now not so much.

This confidence seems misplaced given what we saw last night but ok. We can agree to disagree.

You Hespek Anderson. You Hespek him right now.

I love your incorporation if that gif. Haaa

Seeing as Anderson was KO'd by Weidman and dropped multiple times by Bisping, he's fortunate that Cormier didn't trade with him--I think he would've gotten ko'd. If you think Cormier was really in there to make a fight out of this, you're an idiot. The dude was clearly just trying to get his paycheck, after the weird turn of events this week. High risk, low reward situation for Cormier. After a while, we need to realize that people like Fedor, Anderson, BJ, Chuck, etc. just aren't the same fighters anymore.

Exactly my thoughts

Uh, I have hence the OP. If Anderson was the same fighter as he was during his prime he would beat DC.

My point is, that wasn't the real DC in the cage. It'd be hard to gauge how that would've gone if Anderson was in his prime. The DC that owned Rumble and battled Gus, is probably only bested by Jones.

No evidence to support this other than wishful thinking. Alls cormier has to do is take him down, like he did in this fight. Dont see the problem in doing that.

You must not understand or have much ability to analyze fighters and fights if this is your argument.

5 round Andy might have beat DC.

Same as with Andy vs Sonnen I.

Sonnen was beating up Andy for 4 rounds...

He looked like the same DC to me. He took Anderson down and through a ton of gnp with bad intentions. He tried to pass guard many times as well.

The only problem is that after the round 1 smothering Andersonw as too old and out of shape to take advantage of DC tiring and slowing down.

Cormier fully trained is just going to have an easier time taking Anderson down. He possesses all the abilities that Weidman and Sonnen utilized to give Anderson fits, only he is much larger and more powerful than they are,can take strikes better than them, and trains daily with Cain Velasquez. Anderson landing some crazy unorthodox strike is all he can hope for against the relentless Olympic/AKA pursuit

Anderson got outstruck and outgrappled by Ryo Chonan.

Outside of Hendo and Rich he fought one dimensional fighters in his reign. DC is in the Weidman mould in terms of being an all rounder. He would decimate any version of Anderson.

Daniel just needs one TD and that round is over lol

And DC outstruck Anderson as well.

DC's weight on him might have done that to anderson no matter how old he is. The size gap seemed too much for him.

Yes yes,but Sonnen didnt have the power to stop anderson.DC does. He wouldnt be nearly so conservative if he had trained for this fight. Granted, anderson could do better with a full camp too,i just think this is a case of size advantage being too much to overcome, with respect to andersons skills.
