i am very worried about the tolerance or "under the mat" brushing of peeedos/NAMBLA types/"MAP"s and their fringe relations with the LGBTQ community. this is not a road that should ever be gone down. i dont want peeeeedo shit to be automatically connected with LGBTQ shit because they are not one and the same. most gay/lesbian/trans people are not attracted to kids, but there is a percentage that are. perhaps its partially because of centuries of having to be subversive? you could make a similar case for religious figures who molest kids, actually.

regardless, i dont want LGBTQ people to be a lightning rod for far-right reactionaries that want to paint all of that group as peeeeedos. i have had mostly positive encounters from all types of that community, as a personal anecdote. two of my oldest friends from college are gay and bisexual, respectively.

there needs to be a unified and consistent voice within the LGBTQ community that says NO to all of this and casts out anyone who participates in that kind of behavior. if there is such a voice or organization, i would like to know about it so i can spread awareness of it.

One teenage girl shot another before being shot herself, and six other people were bear-sprayed at the tail end of New York City’s Pride march on Sunday, bringing a violent end to the month-long LGBTQ+ celebrations.

New York police said the shooting occurred near the historic Stonewall Inn in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, where the gay rights movement kicked off with an anti-police demonstration in June 1969.


Police said the two girls at the center of the shooting – aged 16 and 17 – were shot shortly after 10pm and taken to New York’s Bellevue hospital. During a fight between two groups who knew each other, the younger of the two girls who were shot had fired at a boy, missed and hit a bystander, NBC News reported, citing a law enforcement source.

As their group ran away, a boy who was accompanying the intended – but uninjured – target of the shooting then fired a gun at the 16-year-old girl, striking her in the head, NBC said.


The girl hit in the head was listed in critical condition, police said. The other was shot in the leg and was reported to be in stable condition.

The shootings happened in Sheridan Square, which was teeming with revelers. Reports suggest that the daytime festivities were peaceful but, as night-time approached, the crowd of revelers grew rowdy and out of control.

“Saddened to learn about the shooting by the Stonewall Inn tonight as Pride celebrations were winding down,” New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, posted on X late on Sunday night. “During a time when our city should be rejoicing and celebrating members of our diverse LGBTQ+ community, incidents like this are devastating.”

No specific details about any possible charges were immediately available. The girl who was hit in the head was not expected to be able to immediately communicate.

About two hours earlier, six people were injured in nearby Washington Square Park after being hit with bear spray, which is similar to pepper spray and is used to ward off angry bears.

The New York fire department said that the six who were injured were hit with the irritant at about 7.50pm and evaluated for minor injuries. Police later posted on social media saying: “An individual deployed bear deterrent. This individual is in custody.”

Police later identified the suspect in the bear spray case as Dominic Sabator, 33. According to the New York Daily News, Sabator told police he deployed the spray believing he was about to be beaten by a group . He faces counts of assault, reckless and endangerment and illicit possession of a noxious chemical.
