It's obvious that he's not truly "League 2 level," it's just that he's not a super skilled striker. And there have been tons of great strikers in the past that aren't the best outside the box. Vieri, Inzaghi, Shearer, Batistuta, a few others.

He's getting crap because the numbers he's putting up are Messi-Ronaldo-Lewa-Suarez level, and those guys ARE very technical, so he just kinda stands out. The team and coach he plays for also contributes to this.

Lewa under Pep is probably best comparison, both tall forwards that dont take part in playmaking part of the attack for most part. Though Lewa is better in that aspect. Or Inzaghi, Shearer etc (difference here is though that most teams back then had 2 forwards playing in forward position and there was no false 9 etc)
