2 new fresh opponents. Would like DDP first but SEP 9th is less than 2 months away & Izzy loves being active. As well he seems particularly motivated by the prospect of getting the cage with DDP, so DEC/JAN seems likely after he makes easy work of Strickland.

If it was an inactive champion, ala Leon v Colby/Belal, it would be tougher to swallow. I think Strickland will make for a more entertaining buildup, but DDP poses much more of a threat given his power/wrestling/new-nose.

It'll hype up the eventual Izzy/DDP fight even more then it already is, I mean they MIGHT even be able to get settle it on the first UFC Africa card in early 2024 if the stars align perfectly.
Both will also have full camps and be closer to a 100% going into that instead of one of them being compromised, the UFC expecting the Whittaker/DDP winner to be able to make that quick of a turnaround was pretty unrealistic to being with so this isn't really surprising.

Izzy/Strickland will get some attention, but the matchup itself isn't that interesting.
Strickland's style is tailor made for Izzy, he doesn't have a lot paths to victory here and will get pieced up or outpointed. Even if Strickland plays it safe, he won't be able to outpoint Izzy.

Glad to see it, for both the presers and Strick getting his big shot.

Even if Strickland plays it safe, he won't be able to outpoint Izzy.

Strick learned point fighting wasn't smart after his loss when he thought he was winning.

Stickland is a much less dangerous fight for Izzy.

Anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves.

Was it supposed to be DDP officially at some point? What happened?

I'm torn because Strickland is going to produce gold on the mic leading up to the fight, but DDP has a better chance of winning. Izzy beats them both though so it's win win for him I guess.

I'd much rather have du Plessis but if he can't make the date then Strickland is the next best option and we need more times when the show goes on and the champ stays active. Du Plessis should get the winner.

Both DDP and Strickland get schooled by Izzy, so I'm indifferent.

Really right now the only guys I'm interested in seeing Izzy fight at MW are Khamzat, Nickal and Pereira. Everyone else gets violated.

The fight script is pretty predictable with Strickland. It's a good matchup, but I was really ready to see how wild Du Plessis would get when pressing Adesanya.

Strickland would beat DDP so this fight makes more sense. Strickland in many ways is a better version of Adesanya.

The shit talk from Strickland will be better than the fight.

DDP deserves the fight over Strickland
