Poirier resume is insane

They're all wars too. He's not vastly superior to any of his opponents, he's just got the heart of a warrior and a sack that hangs low.

Except Conor, he clowned Conor, twice.

Whenever you want to introduce someone to MMA, just show them a DP fight. Preferably his war with Hooker, those men beat the fuck out of eachother.
Hooker hasn't been the same since that fight.

That's fair enough. Sorry to come off like a dick, my brain is conditioned to get bitchy with anyone defending Conor.
You weren’t, Conor’s fall off has been something else. It’s worth asking about so I kept trying to get more insight. The guy who could rebound after the Diaz loss was special; and it’s crazy that after the Poirier loss all we got was a guy planning on insulting his opponent’s wife and would spam kicks. Never even found his Boxing range, still can’t control posture to minimize ground & pound. Just perplexing to see that level of fall off.

So that makes his mention of Frankie relevant?
Also keep in mind we’ve seen more decorated wrestlers than Gray; and he dominated the wrestling in their first match, he looked another level above Frankie, (yet dude brought him on Page 1). Chad was able to take Aldo down, I don’t recall Frankie doing it all all in their first match, if he got him down in the second it was insignificant. (Yet dude mentioned Frankie on page 1)

The mma wrestling looked pretty even in the matches against Benson, I never understood why there even was a rematch. Prime Frankie wasn’t some juggernaut that was a matchup nightmare for Dustin is my point. It was irrelevant bringing him up.
Benson Henderson, unlike Poirier, is actually an all time great lightweight. Aldo is also an all time great, but as a fighter in general and not at lightweight. No one has ever really been able to successfully take and keep Aldo down. That said, I think Edgar was just really good at exploiting other fighters lack of ground game. If they had bad take down defense, he would continually take them down. If they had poor ground work, he would GNP until they broke mentally— then submit or TKO them. Head to head, I don’t think Edgar could really do much with Poirier standing unless the takedowns got him to be hesitant. On the ground though? Edgar would either batter him or twist him into a pretzel.

So when did Frankie dominate someone via ground and pound or sub?

I’ll start it off, got a generous decision against BJ, but truly won the rematch, but I thought it was Frankie’s speed that did it, don’t remember him smashing BJ on the ground … Didn’t Benson break his nose in their first fight on the ground?

anybody who says Dustin sucks or his resume is weak etc etc, should be disregarded. peak casual opinion.

WAR DIAMOND

His career didn’t end after he lost the LW title.

I don’t think anyone has ever said his resume sucks. He’s just not the best. In order to be a great to me, you have to at least— at some point in time— have arguably been the best at a weight class.
