Poirier resume is insane

Conor won that first round! You started buying into Dustin’s narrative that it would’ve happened regardless, albeit the guy that fought Conor the third time dominated all phases of the fight, because Conor initiated the clinch. … But, in that second fight Dustin was down a round and ate another left hand before the calf kicks turned the tide. Besides the calf kicks, Dustin landed two surprise jabs that I’m shocked Conor didn’t counter, but he still lost that round.

Dustin had figured Conor out before the end of the first. If you want to argue Conor won the round, that's cool, but don't talk like it was one way traffic until Conor's leg started getting worked. Not sure why people try to take some moral victory from a guy getting brutally stopped 8 minutes into a fight.

(Yes, I’m one of those fans. I could barely believe what I saw during McGregor v Poirier II)

1) After the first round, Conor showed he could get up quickly after a Takedown.

2) Conor’s left hand demanded so much respect it looked like the lead hook was gonna do the job. (Because Conor showed he had a jab against Floyd, you figured going into R2 Conor might get his jab going, due the respect for his own left hand)

3) Conor wasn’t looking exhausted! Meaning RIP Poirier going into R2.

So why didn’t any of this happen??!! I figured Dustin (getting so desperate he was) jabbing with Conor was the tale-tale sign Conor was going to KO him. Yes, you’re correct, Conor won a meaningless R1, but why … ?

Dustin was not getting desperate. He was following a gameplan that led to the desired result of wrecking Conor. There were no moral victories or positive takeaways from that fight for Conor. The self proclaimed "greatest striker in MMA" was soundly out struck and laid out.

I never asked for your opinion. You shared that gem of insight all on your own.
And yet here you are tagging me all over the place in threads the discussion wasn't even taking place in. You fucking nerd.

this is why poirier has been on the p4p list for several years.

Colby has never even made it to #15

Have to agree...fucking creole crawfish eating fuck is top notch

I love Poirier. Not only is he a very fun and effective striker, he's also extremely fucking tough.
The guy was trading up close with Chandler, Justin, Eddie Alverez, etc. He's a fucking just bleed god, so gritty.

They're all wars too. He's not vastly superior to any of his opponents, he's just got the heart of a warrior and a sack that hangs low.

Except Conor, he clowned Conor, twice.

Whenever you want to introduce someone to MMA, just show them a DP fight. Preferably his war with Hooker, those men beat the fuck out of eachother.
Those Conor fights were really evenly matched

4 or 5 years ago no way would he be a HOF fighter. But resume wise he is for sure...

29-7 but fought all the monsters and beat most of them.. The sad thing is because he never had a run with the belt how much money has he made? I am guessing he is far from rich thanks to Uncle Dana.. Even in the last 2 Conor fights he likely got rear ended..

He's competitive in all his fights too ( other than you know who). I'd love to see him run it back with Charles again

And Max Holloway! Max was looking like the p4p King going into that fight. Took a competitive round 3 from an undefeated Ortega, and literally called the finish going into R4 … Couldn’t believe Dustin wasn’t getting overwhelmed, yet I had to believe it.

I would call you crazy, but that 3rd fight was utter domination. He ate the kicks because he knew he could hurt Conor and that’s exactly what he did. (I hope Conor had a really crappy gameplan and like Rogan & DC said “he (actually) hurt Dustin with a left hand” … Thus isn’t overmatched by Dustin these days) Dustin was the better Boxer even in R1. Still struggle accepting the guy that beat Alvarez cannot Box with Dustin Poirier.

He is an all time great but his ranking be on the lower end imo. Him never winning a title hurts his position, I always thought he would be a fw champ after watching him whoop Koch bloody who was supposed to get a shot I believe if he beat Dustin.

Poirier is very good and always has been. That's why I call out fools who act as if Conor losing to Dustin is somehow a bad thing. Dustin beats 98/100 lightweights and featherweights in the world +/-2

he fought all monsters in his divisions and mostly won them all

conor(W x2), gaethje(W), chandler(W), oliveira (L), khabib (L), alvarez(W), hooker(W), pettis(W), even prime Holloway(W)

Poirier is already virtually in HOF
He's a lock for the HOF in my opinion.

You could argue that if you want.

That's not what he said. He said they suck, then doubled down.

For a guy who claims to value the truth, he seems pretty thoroughly disconnected from it.

idk how much effort i would put into seperating out those to things, or arguing what a universal definition of sucks is

Dustin Poirier , quietly( well- maybe not so...),has put himself in the top tier goat LW talk. Dustin has put in the work from way back when and enjoys life's spoils because of the great fighter that he is.

.......and conducts himself like a man outside the GON.

Good for DP

That's fair enough. Sorry to come off like a dick, my brain is conditioned to get bitchy with anyone defending Conor.
