How many other guys could fight McGregor twice, be days away from a 3rd, & still not be a household name?
True.
Everything about the way he talks is awkward. He says he's an introvert, but I think he's just dull. Even now he makes comments about wanting to "fly below the radar". It's ridiculous. Then these guys turn around and complain that the UFC arent paying them enough.
I agree, Dustin Poirier is awkward to watch. However, he appears to be in authentically cool person.
Dedicated husband, family man. Puts in the work to be a top shelf mixed martial artist. In the past few years, he's beaten Alvarez, Pettis, Holloway, Gaethje, Hooker, and now Conor.
He has the best resume in the LW division, behind Khabib.
Even if/when he beats McGregor again, it will barely raise his stock. He still wont be able to draw flys on his own. I've never known anything like it.
Not everybody can be Muhammad Ali. Even Conor can't be Muhammad Ali. (Or, if we stick to MMA, Khabib.)
Reason being, Muhammad Ali was a genuinely good dude, funny, and truly confident. Ali also delivered when it mattered. In the same fashion, Khabib is a genuinely likable dude, truly confident. Khabib also never fails to deliver, no matter what the stakes.
By contrast, Conor McGregor is a trashy punk. He's not really funny, he's not really cool, and he's not really good in his heart (either in or out of the ring). Again, Conor McGregor is basically a punk.
While Dustin Poirier may not have a "Hollywood persona," and least he's a genuinely good guy.
I don't think anyone in the universe believes Conor McGregor is "a genuinely good guy."
The truth is, Conor is a desperate, clild-like carpetbagger ... a charlatan, a braggart ... all of which antics are pitifully-aimed at filling his deep-rooted insecurity set into the marrow of his bones. This is the cause of his repeated failures to deliver.
Personally, I prefer a guy like Khabib. Truly confident, never fails to deliver.
