Pit bull attacked my dog

What kind of idiot lets a pit run around w/out a leash?? Even if the dog is the most docile pit ever, it is still going to garner a lot of negative attention.

I'm glad you and your dog were ok.

Carry a knife. That's what I do

If I had a dog and it was attacked the other dog is getting shanked. Plus if you were attacked you'd stand a better chance by stabbing the dog than kicking it.

I don't have years of experience training pits but I do own a one year old female pit. I think I got lucky though. She's a huge softy. But here's the thing. I never let her off the leash when I walk her. There is always that chance and I'll be damned if anyone gets hurt because of my neglect.but all in all she's a great dog, a little retarded but a sweetheart none the less. She's currently curled up in bed with me but she keeps farting uncontrollably. Man does she have a smelly ass.

I had a chocolate lab growing up and he was attacked by two pits one day as I was walking him. Luckily he escaped with just a few scrapes but the pits piece of shit owner put a chair next to his fence in his backyard so they could get out easily. I don't know if he did it on purpose but come the fuck on.

Oh yes there are a lot of idiot parents. Every week you hear that a mothers baby/toddler whatever was mauled to death by her hit pitbull. Its like what the hell?

I do this to. Here in the Netherlands there recently was a story of 6 off leash staffords that killed a lab. Just tore him to bits. The police had to shot a few. After that I started thinking how I could protect my dog, and that was the only thing I could come up with.

These were the dogs from the story, who the fuck let's 7 staffs/pits walk free.

and this was the victim

As sick as it may come across to the uninitiated, this is the approach I have always taken.

I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone say "if that were my dog you kicked, i would have blah blah blah, and you be dead or in hospital".

Your last paragraph is the only major difference between pit bulls and other breeds of dog. Their strength demands a strong hand in their maintenance and training, and that's really about it.

They don't have any "triggers" that any other dog might not have. They're dogs, and all dogs mentalities are basically the same.

That's not to say pit bulls aren't traditionally more aggressive with other dogs, because they are, because for a large part of their breeding history they were bred for fighting other dogs. However, they were also bred to be as docile and non aggressive towards humans as possible, and if you've ever owned a well adjusted pit bull, you'd know how damn submissive they are. They just fold when a human gets any sort of mad at them.

With early socialization and good training, pits are fine. But, like anything, misinformation and improper handling can have disastrous results.

Just speaking from personal experience. I have seen 5 dog attacks in my life, all 5 were pits. Could just be a coincidence, but in my experience Pits do tend to snap more often then other dogs.

I don't think the way I do because I hate pits or because I read shit on the internet. I go by what I've seen, and I have seen well adjusted pit-bulls, and I have also seen those same well adjusted pits all of a sudden have violent moments and do real damage to people and other animals.

Well yeah it's funny now lol

jeez i could only imagine what it would have been like.

i was once attacked by a goose when i was like 2 or 3. since it actually physically pecked me i think my encounter with said goose was more life threatening then your encounter with a pit that chased you up a tree.

no but in all seriousness. i would have shat bricks.

The dog deserved it. And if its anything like my dog you could throw a brick at its head and it wouldn't phase it.

I'll add that the owner deserved a few hard kicks to the head as well.

Buy a tazer, nothing stops a dog fight easier then that.

DOont take your dog out to areas to expect idiots with their dogs, sucks but works 100%.

I would have thought they would have kicked the rottweiler or something.

Must be the MLP variety.

But yeah rottweilers are worse and more powerful than pitbulls.
I've seen a rottweiler ragdolling a pitbull like it was nothing. Both were the same age too.

that was my first thought when they told me what happened, but the ponies were tied so they had no chance.

I know my dog is aggressive toward other big dogs. I would be super pissed off if he attacked another one and the owner kicked him or stabbed him.

Luckily this is easily preventable by keeping him on his leash.

I saw two pit bulls pull lose from their owner at a park (who was a big dude), and rip the throat out of a grey hound, while the greyhounds owner was screaming. The dude ran up and was litterally soccer kicking the dogs and couldn't get them off of it. Was one of the worst things I have ever seen in my life.

Pit bulls are banned here and I support that. Terriers are just as likely to bite, but they won't do near the damage. That's the problem.

2 pits just bit my friends Mothers foot off while she was taking out her garbage. These were the neighbors dogs who got out because their 3 year old opened the door. It was in CT. You can google it. My question to everyone that defends Pits and just blame the owners..:"Why get a dog that is "capable" of such destruction?" Is it to look tough? Or because the dog looks tough? We have major issues around here bc there is a pit rescue and all these families are "saving" these dogs and getting bit (not all) but enough they are trying to stop the rescue. Nothing is an absolute, but you can make better dog choices that dont put people in danger...this is a dangerous breed, and yes a lot does fall on the owners but so fucking what? You get a Pit to make a statement....just like other retarded things people do in the sake of image.

I've had pits for years, only person they ever attacked was my burglar two to three years back and one small dog who got in my yard which is being territorial

See... here's the thing. If another dog got in my yard.... My Austrailian Shepherd would just play with it.

I have had two. They absolutely love people and other dogs, cats etc. I would put a baby's head in their mouth that's how easy going they are. I have watched baby's crawl all over them and dress them up and they love it. I had a German Shepherd as well but I did not trust it with little kids or other animals. It was a nervous dog, so I would always have to watch it.

There are breeds that have little to no aggression in them. Pitbulls aren't one of them. Sure they may do well with people, but they do not seem to like other animals. Not a good thing when you are in the burbs or a city where there is a high chance of them coming accross someone elses pet.
