Pit bull attacked my dog

Good to hear you and the dog are OK. Good gameplan too. Pits aren't known to check low kicks ala Chris Weidman

Unrelated, when I was in Chile for my honeymoon, we were at a park and not a single dog was on a leash or tied up. I'm talking dozens of dogs, none leashed and none fighting or barking. Very odd to see. But oddly refreshing.

The most aggressive dog I have ever seen was a $10,000+ guard dog that had 3 years of professional training before being purchased.

The owner was a retired musician who had a recording studio in his mansion.

The dog was a black German Sheppard that was about 100#s. When you would first go to it's house, it's owner would introduce you to it and you would shake it's hand. If you were in the studio, and wanted to go to a private room to use the phone etc. the owner would tell the dog where to go and it would escort you. If you were on the property and had not been introduced to the dog, it would attempt to kill you. I saw a few people barely escape with their lives. I also saw the owner wife sick it on another dog, which it killed.

I was amazed at how well it was trained, but I was also petrified of the dog.

I hope your just making fun of the generic statement some people use and not making it yourself.

Pits are predisposed to violence considerably more than other breeds.
Even if the owner is good pits have a tendency to attack relentlessly when they go on the offense.

Stopping one of them is very difficult.

They have their place.

Kept in a yard with space.chaining dogs too long makes them more aggressive.
Owned by a person who's single and wants a good guard dog.

It's appropriate in thede situations .

I've had pits for years, only person they ever attacked was my burglar two to three years back and one small dog who got in my yard which is being territorial

a few months ago a rottweiler from a farm nearby scaped and killed our neighbour's 3 ponies. I would have shot that fucking thing had I been around. shittiest people often own the most dangerous dogs and don't take the safety measures they should.

I would have thought they would have kicked the rottweiler or something.

Must be the MLP variety.

But yeah rottweilers are worse and more powerful than pitbulls.
I've seen a rottweiler ragdolling a pitbull like it was nothing. Both were the same age too.

Why was it being sicced on another dog ?

Why was it being sicced on another dog ?

The owners wife was incredibly stupid and almost killed me once driving up there driveway at 40 mph. Another dog urinated on her lawn or something so she had her dog kill it.

Bad owner, not a bad dog.

However if it bit my dog, first I would have first beat the shit out of the dog, then I would have beat the shit out of the owner.

Even a well raised and socialized pit can develop dog aggression. They are bred that way. Human agression is not normal for a pit though and should not happen when properly raised assuming the dog is mentally healthy. Dog fighting requires a lot of human contact so they are bred to be not human agressive. That's why I'm not a huge fan of meeting pits when walking my dog.
Its just not true the agression is due to a bad owner. The pit having the chance to attack your dog is though.

Stupid dogs and stupid owners ruin it for everyone.

mostly stupid owners, for every ''stupid' dog theres 10000 stupid owners.

I love pit bulls but don't have one, since I've always got dogs either from friends or the pound.

All the people I have on facebook that have pitbulls are the type of people who can hardly take care of themselves sadly.

This is why Ontario has a pitbull ban.

I don't particularly agree with it, but I get it.

just be glad it wasn't this dog.

I hate all those people who are like "Pits are great pets, they are only harmful if they are trained to be harmful."

I have learned from experience that is complete bull shit. You can train a pit all day and he can be the nicest dog in the world to you, but sometimes super small things can set them off and they can do a lot of damage in a small amount of time. This could be true with other breeds of dogs as well, but I've mostly just seen it in pits. There are a lot of hipsters around where I live and it is pretty much the trend to have a pit-bull nowaday, I guess to kill the stereotype that they are aggressive dogs. But just this month there were already 2 different incidents at my local dog park where pits attacked and killed smaller dogs.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate pit bulls, and I feel like if you can properly control your pet then there is nothing wrong with owning one. But when I see a 115 pound girl walking a monster pit-bull down the street I know it's just a bad situation waiting to happen.

It's usually the pits at the dogpark I go to getting into fights.
For some reason people refuse realize certain breeds of dogs are bred for certainly personality traits. German Shepherds were bred for intelligence, huskies for socialbility, dobermans were initially bred to be a more aggressive dog, but lately have been bred to be more passive.
Why people can't admit to themselves that dogs bred for fighting and aggression are going to be more disposed to aggressive behavior and getting in fights, I don't know.

I also strongly hate people that fully trust there dog. I mean come on, dogs are crazy mofo's.

I have a huge intact male Rottie myself and we really lucked out with his temperament. He's loving to everyone. People he never met can come over, take their dog with them and he just enjoys it. He likes every other dog and person he meets. He's like this huge cuddling machine. But to say I fully trust him under every circumstance... no. Dogs do crazy things. One time when I walking him off leash (where it was allowed) someone passed by with a wheeled suitcase and my dog just went after it. I don't no why but apparently he fucking hates wheeled suitcases. Point being; you should never fully trust a dog and always be alert. You just never what goes on in their head.

Your last paragraph is the only major difference between pit bulls and other breeds of dog. Their strength demands a strong hand in their maintenance and training, and that's really about it.

They don't have any "triggers" that any other dog might not have. They're dogs, and all dogs mentalities are basically the same.

That's not to say pit bulls aren't traditionally more aggressive with other dogs, because they are, because for a large part of their breeding history they were bred for fighting other dogs. However, they were also bred to be as docile and non aggressive towards humans as possible, and if you've ever owned a well adjusted pit bull, you'd know how damn submissive they are. They just fold when a human gets any sort of mad at them.

With early socialization and good training, pits are fine. But, like anything, misinformation and improper handling can have disastrous results.

Fuck pit bulls.

To go along with the TS PSA, I was walking my daughters home from school and some girl about 10 was walking home with her sisters. For some reason she had their pit bull puppy. He wasnt full grown but wasnt that small. That dog was dragging her all over the place. It started jumping on some 8 year old boy from my daughter's class. It nipped at his arm. From my viewpoint it looked like a harmless, playful nip. The boy stopped and started crying. I stopped to check on him. This was in the winter and he had a thick winter jacket on. I looked at his arm and it was bleeding and bruised. I told the little girl that she shouldnt be walking that dog. I had a sit and stand stroller since I had my 3 year old, and took the little boy home on the stroller. Unfortunately, over a year later, I recently saw that same girl walking the now full grown pit bull home from school. Her parents must be complete idiots.

Any large untrained dog can pull a child around. Has nothing to do with the breed. What point are you trying to make?

Lol you're a fucktard. What does your story even consist of? A girl couldn't control a dog, it bit a boy, fuck that dog!

As I said, to along with the TS PSA that only responsible owners should deal with pit bulls. What kind of owner is going to let their young daughter take the dog for a walk? But, I'm not going to argue with you guys, pit bull sympathizers and owners are dumber than the dogs. It's a vicious cycle. The worst possible pet owners are drawn to worst possible pets.

this would be the 'ideal kid walking a dog' in any situation
