Social Philadelphia yanks 72 cops off the streets...

Posting similar sentiments about Caucasians is good since it smashes White Supremacy. By definition only Caucasians can be racist so POC officers should not be reprimanded in anyway.

That is the opposite of what the TSA says dummy.

Partisan as in prejudiced. And I’m defending individuals to be judged on a case by case basis. I don’t defend shitty cops, and I never have.

Props for using a cop gif tho. Did you notice mine is the guy from Super Troopers? Lol

It's not really possible to judge each officer without taking the whole profession and one's own experience into account. So whether or not to take the word of the police at face value probably varies quite a bit between communities. Unlike in Baltimore, here on Big Island I'm far more inclined to believe 'em. :D

I did not notice the Super Troopers, but figured you'd like the McNulty.

What a fucking joke to construe this as "hate speech".

Yet another example that leftists are authoritarian scumbags who actively work to stigmatize dissent as crime or misconduct.
Ahhh it all makes sense now. No wonder you delete left leaning posts and let righties post all the filth they want. Smh.

I’ve only once had it come to my attention that one of my officers was posting anything damaging regarding anything work related on Facebook. This is a guy who I’ve had to discipline before, and who I consider an “overzealous” Officer. Thankfully it wasn’t anything racial. He was bitching about a coworker and made a comment about sovereign citizens. I put a stop to that shit fast.

I try to keep up with all of that stuff and best believe me it’s not goin to happen on my watch. If you got a promotion or have something positive you want to share by all means go for it, I encourage guys to do charity work and put it out there. But you better think before you post or I will not hesitate to write guys up or move into further disciplinary actions.

It will hurt for Philadelphia to lose that many officers for the time being, but you can’t tolerate that. Once you’ve shown yourself to be biased or untrustworthy as law enforcement it puts all of your work into question. If you can’t be trusted by judges and juries there goes your career.

Yup, I can just imagine the defense attorneys rubbing their hands in glee if they're looking at an officer as a witness with a social media history of bias against the defendant's group. Especially if it's the arresting officer.

I get it. I just don't necessarily agree with it. Seems like the First Amendment would trump office policy, and that being fired is a punishment by the government for expressing incorrect thoughts. The argument about "trust" is highly speculative, whereas having to waive basic rights as a condition of employment is more clear-cut. Sure, being in the role of employer is a wrinkle, but it's still the government making a rule and enforcing it. Losing your job isn't as bad as going to jail, but I don't think it has to be in order to qualify as coercive.
Except that when someone is making discriminatory speech as a representative of the government, they're potentially tying the government in as a proponent of that speech. And the government can't make discriminatory speech, even through it's 3rd party agents.

Social media is broadening this. Previously, a cop could sit in the bar and say whatever the hell wants, so long as he's not in uniform or on duty. But now with officers posting job related things on their personal profiles (such as the charity work @A.C. mentioned - if they reference that they are police officers), it's less clear when an officer's social media page has stopped being an extension of their professional position and become a purely private place of expression.

If a Cop is posting something to the effect of "All Blacks are criminals and all Muslims need to die". Can we trust them to professionally police a neighborhood where these people happen to live? Can we trust any arrest they've made in the past?
OK, but that's not what any of them posted. I've only ever heard SJWs inject the word "all" into anything and what was actually posted was about the most tepid "hate speech" I've ever seen.

I still don't know why people would post anything on facebook knowing full well it will only ever hurt you and never help you. The dates on the posts are also 2015 and 2016. How sad does someone have to be to get a "team of researchers" together to spend 2 years looking back at people's facebook post history looking for memes they shared that hurt someone's feelings to try to get them fired?

I skimmed thru the so called hate posts and most of it was just politics leftwingers disagree with.

This is an area where teachers firefighters, and cops have a lot in common. Despite all the 1st amendment brouhaha, and whether or not it's "fair" people who get paid by tax dollars have an extra level of caution that they need to take re: controversial issues and social media. The slightest hint of doubt that you'd treat every citizen/student, etc. with completely objective neutrality, shown via social media postings, is an absolute no-no, especially when the shit hits the fan (ie. lawsuit). And PD/FD/Public Schools get sued a LOT. I've got to assume that this is part of the training on literally the first day on the job. You reap what you sow.

I’ve said it many times here. My ex was a forensic psychologist for the NJ state police police and she said she never met a worse group of people in her life.

Depends on position. It is more complicated yes , but hate speech is never protected against a protected class whether at work , office party or on social media . Just took mandatory harassment and discrimination training . I work for county’ government as a social worker . I know the union wouldn’t be able to save my ass if I said “ all Muslims can die !” On FB under my name ( if somebody reported it to HR /my supervisor ) Cause I deal with Muslim clients and am in in their homes . Same with cops . Now ..if I was an offiice assistant for the county In a warehouse it may not be so cut and dry and it often depends on employee , your record of performance , how strong your particular union is ( cops unions are always strong ) and unfortunately ( as it often is in life ) how much they like u and wanna keep u .

Lol at the term “protected classes”

Such garbage...

Like some people deserve more protection than others.

Fuck off

There was a lot of truth to that scene in Harold and Kumar lol

BLM or Muslims?

I can't imagine you wouldn't get fired if you're a policeman endorsing police brutality publicly.

I loved seeing this and I don’t care if people were roughed up. When the police tell you to do something u do it. It’s called respecting authority. U play u pay. Bottom line.

Looks like he's selling his Harley to cover his legal fees/unemployment.

Fixed You could say that about a Sherdog Mod. :)

I don't think that they're trying to get anyone fired, but to show that you can't bring your personal bias/prejudices with you on duty when you wield the power of death over life.

Cops are supposed to call balls and strikes. If you're posting prejudicial/racist content for all the world to see? Do you really expect them to call it down the middle?

If a Black Cop says on Facebook that "I think all White people should be tortured because... Slavery happened in America!" Are you going to feel safe if that same cop pulls you over on a lonely, dark, road/street?

Are you ok with them staying on the force?
