Pereira blocking 13/13 takedowns, even getting a takedown of his own but forgetting how to punch is the funniest thing ever

Alex was getting outworked, got hurt in round 2 and slowly gassed out. Otherwise it looks to me his game plan was to stuff takedowns, punish Anks legs until they became compromised

Just curious what did he do to Jan:) story of this fight were Jans lowkicks and his inability to do any wrestling ( Jan admits himself he doesnt tran wresling...lol) + his low iq in this fight...
Where did he say he doesn't train wrestling, he trains it for sure

Dana starting a new sport to go along with the slap face...

"Footsie wars."

Alex will make Dana billions as footsie champion.

Mostly this is about Ankalaev being absolutely terrible at taking down opponents. Yes, he has ten takedowns in his UFC career which isn't a trivial number, but that's at a horrifically bad 22% clip, with only one in the first round (Johnny Walker, which barely counts considering his takedown defense) and most of them in the third round or later. Ankalaev is good at taking advantage of gassed out fighters' decreased ability to defend takedowns and great at taking advantage of their decreased ability to get off the mat or fence, but when he tries to take down a fighter who isn't gassed out he almost always fails.

And if there's one thing we know for sure about the Ankalaev/Poatan fight it's that Poatan didn't work hard enough to gas himself out.

Yeah, he needed to take more risks in order to win though. He isn't going to win if he never pulls the trigger. I was surprised he didn't try to punch more. Better to at least go all out at the end of rounds so that he could possibly get a KO and reduce the impact of TDs on the scoring.
I think the shot in 2nd that rocked him affected him the entire fight.

amazing how people are dumb enough to not realize defending takedowns constantly makes it harder to strike despite watching this sport for years on end
Philosophical thought of the day:

Focussing purely on defending..make you a lot better at defending. But also limits your offense.

When did he fight Nemkov?
Amateur bout in like 2013 or something. This guy has brought up that fight multiple times without answering any questions on it, like why he thinks it's relevant, or where he saw the fight, since only an edited video of the fight is available on youtube

He was obviously very focused on stopping the takedowns. Hopefully in the rematch he'll use his success at stopping the takedowns to give him the confidence to open up and throw more.

Panic TD? It was an opportunistic trip
It happened at 04:59 when fighters switch
Off

If someone tried pereira takedown in the street - back to the concrete - they would be in hospital

It looks advanced, but grabbing someone's arm then dropping all your weight onto the ground is a mat move, amateurish

I agree with everything you said except I think him getting hurt in round 2 was a bit overplayed, by myself included. Looking at that sequence afterwards he was really off balance when that shot landed so it looked worse than what it was.

He trained with Strickland and didn't get this part.
That was not Chama.

after all these medias appearances,
he found himself short of Chama

Well, he comes from a long-time pure striking background, so to expect him to be well-rounded and do all aspects well is unrealistic. So, to shore up his weakness, it threw off his main strength because he's not used to doing both.

It's not that surprising in retrospect. He over-corrected.
This is precisely why, and it's not a knock to Poatan, he's not GOAT material.

The GOATs are well rounded.

pereira was so scared of getting taken down he abandoned his striking
the man doesnt have confidence in his ground game and we all damn know
