Alex was getting outworked, got hurt in round 2 and slowly gassed out. Otherwise it looks to me his game plan was to stuff takedowns, punish Anks legs until they became compromised
Pereira was exposed for low fight IQ. Now everyone is going to outsmart him. It's over.Alex was getting outworked, got hurt in round 2 and slowly gassed out. Otherwise it looks to me his game plan was to stuff takedowns, punish Anks legs until they became compromised
Where did he say he doesn't train wrestling, he trains it for sureJust curious what did he do to Janstory of this fight were Jans lowkicks and his inability to do any wrestling ( Jan admits himself he doesnt tran wresling...lol) + his low iq in this fight...
Gsp never had to deal with someone as dangerous as alex or ank
Panic TD? It was an opportunistic tripPereira's was a panic takedown, to point score.
Ankalaev had to clinch Pereira in the final seconds a lot, as this was the only time Point Scorer Pereira would engage with the lion Ankalaev.
I think the shot in 2nd that rocked him affected him the entire fight.Yeah, he needed to take more risks in order to win though. He isn't going to win if he never pulls the trigger. I was surprised he didn't try to punch more. Better to at least go all out at the end of rounds so that he could possibly get a KO and reduce the impact of TDs on the scoring.
Philosophical thought of the day:amazing how people are dumb enough to not realize defending takedowns constantly makes it harder to strike despite watching this sport for years on end
Amateur bout in like 2013 or something. This guy has brought up that fight multiple times without answering any questions on it, like why he thinks it's relevant, or where he saw the fight, since only an edited video of the fight is available on youtubeWhen did he fight Nemkov?

He trained with Strickland and didn't get this part.Yeah, he needed to take more risks in order to win though. He isn't going to win if he never pulls the trigger. This is precisely why, and it's not a knock to Poatan, he's not GOAT material.Well, he comes from a long-time pure striking background, so to expect him to be well-rounded and do all aspects well is unrealistic. So, to shore up his weakness, it threw off his main strength because he's not used to doing both.
It's not that surprising in retrospect. He over-corrected.
