My beard is patchy but I make up for it with a thick ass mustache and goatee.

I just turned 50 and still cannot even grow this.

I would love to be able to rock the full stubble beard just once in my life

but alas I have to accept it is just not going to happen.

And yet I do rock a full Van Dyke

which most people wrongly call a goatee. This is a goatee. A goatee does not include the moustache.

Van Dykes/wrongly called goatees belong in the late 90s or early 2000s, breh

i dont have a full beard but it isnt patchy at the same time. so i can let grow it and it looks ok.

You seem to be equating minoxidil on the beard to a beard transplant, which it isn't. I agree, getting cosmetic surgery like a hair transplant or a beard transplant is silly. But minoxidil on the face just activates dormant hair follicles. If you lack the genes to grow full facial hair minoxidil won't work for you. It just brings out your genetic potential.

I've used minox on the face before, but not long enough to see any results. Most need to apply twice a day for 6 months to see anything happen.
hmm, i think there was a bit of confusion on my behalf and i didnt word it properly.

i was just using the cosmetic surgery as an extreme example.

but if we liken it to this scenario. if you are working out and you have your protein supps, or if you are working out and you take steroids, which one would minoxidil be more comparable to?

so natural ways to increase beard growth from google search is
Here are a few tips to grow facial hair, specifically a mustache, fast:
  1. Clean The Face Regularly: Ask your teen to wash his face twice a day using a mild cleansing gel or soap. ...
  2. Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells: ...
  3. Eucalyptus: ...
  4. Take Adequate Amount Of Vitamins: ...
  5. Have Regular Protein Intake: ...
  6. A Balanced Diet:
or you can take a supplement to change the way your body naturally functions.

im not sure if that cleared it up or not, just there are natural ways and then there are unnatural ways. which if i couldnt grow a beard id be more inclined to going natural ways rather then paying for a drug to do that.

do you think you will try minoxidil again later on?

Can't grow a full beard......and it sux.

But there is a direct link to facial hair and the loss of hair on your head. I got zero signs of hair loss on my head and only the odd grey hair at age 38. so there is that....

Yeah, it's sort of a grey area. I guess you could liken it more to steroids as an analogy but the side effects aren't nearly as severe. I guess it would be like taking steroids, but staying within the natural range of fat free muscle index and not going beyond natty potential.

Like I said, for a lot of guys not having a full beard, or having patchy facial hair is a real confidence killer, especially in this modern day and age when beards are so "in" atm. I will probably try minox again in the future.

i was just curious about it. as i never looked into it. cheers for the info bout that bud.

i hope you wake up one day with a natural full grown beard.

i think people can let grow the "patchy" beard as long the mustache and the goatee is thick enough, thats the most importand part of growing the beard.

this is true. but id loop in sideburns too.

those three focal points are the 3 main areas that set the foundation for that beard.

The last time I stopped was when I read some common side effects are dark circles under the eyes and unhealthy skin. I have bad dark eyes circles, probably from too much pot and caffeine and didn't wanna risk making it worse. Gonna try and quit those vices and get rid of the dark eye circles before making another run with the minox. It sucks because my little brother has a pretty full beard and I don't. My left cheek is fairly full but the right cheek has a giant bald spot in it. What da fuck.

i used to smoke weed daily for many years, i still drink alot of caffeine since like i was 16 (im 30 now) and i drink a lot(which means naturally ill have shit sleep) and smoke alot of cigarettes. to top that off im dark skinned, and ive got those dark circles locked down under my eyes for life. i guess if i stopped drinking and smoking cigarettes they would dissappear, but you gotta have some vices.

i do find it funny when there are two boys in a family with the same parents and one has stronger hair genetics than the other. not just beard, leg arm chest and hairline too. i was good friends with these twins from school (one passed away a year ago rip) and one of them had receding hair from 16 years old when i met him, and he was shaving his head by 24 because his hairline was virtually not there. the other twin who passed had a much stronger hairline. that was the only real variance i remember, neither had strong facial hair, both had reasonable leg and arm hair. but i always found the hairline funny since they were twins.

Some patchy beards are really just slow growing beards (my moustache took forever to grow) and others could be solved with the right length so I give them a pass if they are trying to grow.

Well what's even stranger between me and my brother is I have thicker leg hair, hair on my hands, feet, knuckles, thicker chest hair, but he has the fuller beard. Shit makes no sense. The density on my left cheek gives me hope that one day my beard will fill out. It seems like every year my facial hair fills out a little more, I'm only 26.

My dad is basically a Gorilla. im sure you could just use sheep shears.
Yet, hair on my body grows at an extremely slow rate, and barely any of it aside from my head. I just don't understand it. its a Blessing and a curse.

you got time fren. i believe in you!

did you ever do anything to your right cheek that could have stopped growth?

my cousin when he was 16 or so, at school he set fire to a shit load of magnesium strips that he stole from science class and the fire from it reached his face and he has a patch on one side of his face that just wont grow because be burnt it so bad when he did it.

You tried taking a multivitamin and drinking more water? The alcohol could be sapping your body of Vitamins. It makes your body unable to absorb or create lots of different stuff.
