People actually criticize Jones’ record and ignore Aspinall’s weak competition?

TS is playing retarded listing the who, but not the how. If Aspinall were getting close decisions against those it would be an ok criticism. But Aspinall destroyed them inside 1 round. While Jones got very close decisions against Reyes and Marreta. Boring performances against OSP and Smith. So be honest and dont ignore the how.
I find it insane that Aspinall fans keep pointing out that Jones got controversial decisions over Reyes and Santos. Maybe the decisions were suspect, but the fights were close and Jones basically ended both Reyes’ and Santos’ careers, as evidenced by their declines afterwards. Plus, beyond those two decisions, Jones has a strong record. Let’s compare to Aspinall’s record:

1. Blaydes 2 - This guy gets knocked out every time he gets a big fight. Tom is 1-1 with Blaydes.
2. Pavlovich - just got exposed and pieced up by Volkov.
3. Marcin Tybura - this guy just isn’t very good. Career journeyman.
4. Blaydes 1 - Leg kicked Tom for the win via knee injury
5. Volkov - probaby Tom’s best win. Volkov is consisting on the top 10, but doesn’t consistently perform.
6. Spivac - Like tubura, this guy isn’t great
7. Arlovski - don’t think this needs explanation
8. Alan Badout - who the fook is this guy?
9. Jake Collier - same as above
10+ all nobodies

And everyone is 100% sure he would destroy Jones. What am I missing?

They've been trying for a while, Gane's just not been accepting it
Gane was doing movies. Gane didn't want to do for a non title fight. I think it's probably a financial decision as well. He also needed time to work on his wrestling. We are getting a scenario where the top 3 guys in the division aren't fighting each other.

Aspinall is now refusing to fight Gane for a title defense because Gane didn't want to fight him before. It is just a weird situation. The promotion can't really push Aspinall since he is their golden child who sells out arenas. TBF Gane can also sell arenas in his country so I am guessing the promotion isn't trying to be heavy handed with him.

This^

I've been watching UFC since it started, & have seen sooo many hype trains come & go. To me, Tom's hype reeks of this, & needs to have a little more proof before we bet our life-savingz that he'z teh be all end all of HW glory. ATM, Tom's a huge hype train that has looked fantastic against high end "career gate keepers." Jones is the most decorated champion who cleared out teh division below... of 3 generations of top competition.

We all understand that this is a massive weight difference to HW, but that's really about KO power if you get down to it, since nobody's going to bully him on the ground. Say what you will about Stipe... he has legit HW KO power... KO power doesn't dwindle this early with age... (it's the last thing to go) & Jon ate several shots that could've KO'ed a lesser being.

So what we have with HW Jones... is a guy with astronomically diverse & fluid movement with an extremely high fight IQ in HW... who can eat big strikes.

Not a totally unfair point, but it is hardly Aspinall's fault that Heavyweight is basically trash at the moment, and has been for a while. It's a historically top-heavy division.
Exactly. Aspinall smoked pretty much everybody he fought and is still evolving.

Dude is 31 which is super young for HW.

People shouldnt criticize Jones' record.

And I say this as a Jones' hater

A cheater and piece of shit

but if you judging by his record only, even with the Reyes loss, there's really nothing to bitch about there.

Aspinall has only been around for a really short time but has basically already ran through everyone except Gane.
That's weird his record states Jon beat Reyes

Fair points, but he basically dispatched all of them inside the 1st round, this isnt hyping up a guy that barely wins every time, he goes through them, just happens that the division isnt all that impressive.

Either way, its the fight to make, he is the best of the HW's, is he not up to Jones level? Better, easy win for Jones, if THAT guy isnt a challenge for Jones no one is.
