Penn State Fraternity Hazing Death

I never understood the concept of fraternities.

Why waste money buying friends to hang out and drink with, and at the same time let your GPA suffer due to the mindless shenanigans that these idiots get into all the time? That tribal mentality of "Oh, we're zeta omega whatever and we're better than the rest" is just ridiculous. They're all douches to me.

I'm glad I spent my time studying and hanging at the university BJJ club instead.
I used to wanna join the judo club, but I was shy about having my ass paddled.

Sick gis, though.

It is mostly people puking, passing out until next morning, and making a mess of the house. And this is every weekend for the next four years. Same thing over and over.

If you go away to a big college and wanna meet tons of hot babes who want to party a Frat is the way to go.

Places like Penn State, Old Miss, ASU sickest parties you'll ever go to. Parties with 1000 kid s all going crazy. Pretty fun if you're 20-21-22 years old

That sounds horrible.
Being surrounded by thousands of drunk obnoxious idiots.
I get annoyed just talking to one drunk person.
Our society would be so much better if we just had more beneficial drugs of choice.

I'm sure a bunch of yall have heard of this by now, 19 y.o. kid pledging a frat drinks way too much, falls down stair multiple times eventually rupturing his spleen and fracturing his skull. Security cam footage from inside the pledge house and text messages show that multiple people at the party knew the kid was not ok but did nothing but prop him up on a couch. He eventually fell a final time down the stairs, and when an ambulance was finally called it was too late.

Penn State has made seemingly made some harsh policy adjustments, but at a school where 1/3 of the students are in frats or sororities, it doesn't really seem like a place that places much emphasis on learning. They're barely out of the shadow of Sandusky and this shit happens, what a complete sham of a school. Just a garbage bin for mediocre achievers to party and fuck things up.

At least it looks like the frat bros who ignored him and/or were in charge will get the book thrown at them.
I disagree, it's a "public Ivy" school, i.e. a public university which provides a level of education comparable to an Ivy League school. The alumni of the school is really respectable in all fields. Obviously, I can't defend crap like this death or the Sandusky travesty, but to say it's a shit-tier school is either ignorance or disingenuous.

There's black people in frats and even all black frats as well.
The guy (Kordel Davis) who wanted to call for help was a black guy. He got slammed up against a wall by his frat bros for insisting on that, so that idea got shut down until it was WAY too late.

I joined the triathlon club and the cycling club, I mostly spent my time doing sex to hot super fit triathlete and swimmer chicks. It was pretty awesome.

You're prob a weird person that's why. Who doesn't like going out to a fun party and enjoying g being young. Lol

The school itself should serve that purpose already. But since they are letting everyone in, I guess their needs to be more ways to break everyone up.
I think some schools might. But for the most part, you are on your own once you graduate. They will hook you up with internships though. But for the kind of blue blood networking needed to get straight into certain careers, I imagine it helps to belong to a fraternity.

I honestly don't know though. This is just what I've gathered from hearing things about it and probably too many movies.

UMich or UVA could be considered a public ivy, Penn State not even close. Dont mean to offend anyone, but youre getting a mid tier education there at best.

Wonder what the response will be, at Washington State earlier this year (notorious party school) there was a bunch of fights (some involving football players), 3 rapes, and 1 death over Halloween Weekend in Greek Row so they banned all social frat events for the rest of the year. And the fraternity where the guy died was suspended.

I've been up for Halloween Weekend before and it's crazy as hell.

Depending on how bpowerful and influential this blue blood network is, the fact that you have to go through all that just to have that power and influence is already pretty bad.

Ivy or not, that is just a status symbol. I am sure it has to do with how much endowment they have and not quality of education.

Like those US News rankings, schools move up when they receive more money somehow. They dont move up because all their students discovered some ground breaking new information.

for someone like me, there has to be more to life then just getting to smooze with girls that are 5 and below (on 1-10, 10 being highest, scale), and then getting to gawk at girls 6 and above while they flirt with the alphas.

Well I'm just saying what college is like at these places. I'm not a frat guy either but their parties are fun
