News Ozzy has passed.

Oh, THAT clusterfuck... yeah, staying out of that one <lol>
Weird that while infracted you can't like other people's posts. Why should me being on the naughty step affect others?

I dunno, I think it's a stupid feature and people should just go back to talking. Having "internet points" encourages people to post whore and do stuff for "likes".

I think things were better before they implemented that crap... maybe I'm just old.

Apparently, Brian Wilson died last month. I don't remember seeing near as much about it.
To be fair it was the reality TV show and not his music that made Ozzy so popular in the US. Without that he would have been one of many drug damaged senior musicians. Ask most of his American fans about their favourite Ozzy song and they won't be able to tell you.

That might be (and I'm not convinced it is) but I'd reckon that Brian Wilson, one of the most popular, innovative, and influential songwriters of 20th Century America would have gotten some more press when he died. Maybe I was preoccupied at the time.

And, for 80s kids and older, Ozzy was very very well known; infamous even. He was a major target for the Tipper Gores and "Satanic Panic" that had parents paranoid (no pun intended) about everything from D&D to Heavy Metal to horror movies and even religious minorities depending on their prevalence in a particular area. The reality show introduced a very different Ozzy to a new audience but the guy had MTV videos with the same makeup effects artists as Michael Jackson's Thriller and six (multi) platinum albums in 11 years. He was known.

It was a generation a shift my friend,

Ozzys music made him popular for one generation as his tv show made him popular for the younger..

Every now and again I have some moron telling me how unpopular I am with my likes. The like system started after me being here for 10 years, lol.

I did, 3 years in a row, however, have best poster and funniest poster on Korn's board. And I'm taking those internet points. I know everyone will say how they were emo simps or what have you but I'm still really close friends with a few of them, we used to hang out in London heaps.

Nice to see the dubs were super short lived.

Korn as in the band?

Yeah, it's no claim to fame even remotely. A bunch of us just hung out there much like Sherdog.
I think i only listened to one of their albums, Follow The Leader i think it was called? I remember quite liking it and listening to it a lot at the time.

I have that album on my wall in the bar. Their home town is Bakersfield which is in my county, I first went there from the UK in 2002 to see them perform in their home town with Disturbed who I liked as well. 2023, I live in Kern County, the land of Korn. Full circle.

Nice. I also like Disturbed.

LOL. Good lord, the dumb shit I read online never fails to amaze me. This is clearly the dumbest of the day. Ozzy was insanely popular in the 80s and even moreso the 90s. The reality show only ran 4 seasons, and the reason it was so popular was because how popular he was.

I have something to say.

I...I..

EYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYE!!!

Rest in peace, Ozzy. Our unusual friend. You are a treasured soul of this mortal realm. Reverberating within the deepest coils of earth's innermost source. You surge forth.

It's symbolic, of course.

Odd crossover...
