This is where I believe many people make large jumps of judgement against them. They feel that since both people most likely did this, then they are guilty of rape, which the jury disagreed with.

This is why the self policing of these two gentlemen is the only just way of getting retribution. Calling them rapists IMO is out of line. Using your wallet, voice, and whatever powers you have to disassociate yourselves with the two gentlemen is a much more just than slandering them by calling them rapists.

There are people on the board who are using their wallet and their voice to the IBJJF and other tournament promoters and it seems to be having the desired effect.

Agreed, even terrible people, have had people attesting to how nice they are. Really that is is meaningless.

They are not rapists the same way Casey Anthony is not a murder.

Yeah , that's what made Ted Bundy so proficient. He was good looking and a super fucking nice guy, well up until the point he murdered someone .

Not quite where I was going. My point is that the behavior they have not denied taking part in is already indefensible [even if we accept the idea that they did not commit the act of rape prior to abandoning her].

Defenders of these two cling desperately to a narrow/flawed interpretation of being found not guilty of the specific criminal charges they faced and claim that this is evidence they're actually good guys, while completely ignoring the CONFIRMED acts of inexcusable behavior that fell just outside the scope of the criminal charges. There is no reasonable scenario where a decent person abandons an incapacitated person in the condition that they did.

A guy called Gotham Gym to let them know that he didn't support them employing someone like Maldonado. Maldonado called him back and left that message.

He chipped in on a small retainer for their lawyers right at the beginning. But they switched lawyers when they realized it was going to be serious. The majority seems to have been paid by their families.
 
Compare the voice on the message to Maldonado's voice when he talks to the reporters.

It sure sounds similar. Poor guy always getting into these weird coincidences. He films his buddy having sex with a girl, and she says "Please stop." Of course she really meant "Please stop filming me." What a terrible coincidence.

And then this threatening voicemail with the guy calling from NYC acting like him who also sounds just like him. Just more bad luck I guess.

and we're just taking this as 100% truth? not saying it's fake, but it's kinda funny how people question things that are in lloyds/mateo/nicks favor but anything against them it's automatically the truth

Just listen to the message, and then listen to Maldonado speak on that news interview. You don't think that's him?

Like I said, I'm sure it's just another funny coincidence surrounding this guy. Someone probably made up a computer program to sound just like him just to post a thing on Yelp that was only up for like a couple hours to frame him. Must be those damn haters again.

Get a good enough attorney, and you could probably convince a jury there's reasonable doubt there too.

I'm not sure it's him. Seems silly for someone to frame someone on Yelp. MM has not earned the benefit of the doubt.

He is a scumbag. The surprising part is when he doesn't act like one.

Hope the dude reports it to the police. Probably enough for a restraining order if he can prove it was him.
