Everyone wears their damage differently. Yes by the numbers Makachev should be past his physical prime and I'm sure he has injuries like any fighter, but numbers don't always tell the whole story. I have yet to see Makachev slow down in ability or mentality at all, in fact his striking improved in his last few fights. I am not willing to accept him being past his prime. This sounds like a built in excuse for this fight.

Bro he is not fighting Ilia, Ilia is lucky he has so much time to prepare for Arman who will destroy Hooker next week. Ilia just left 145 lol, Islam was bigger and stronger than Jack. He was also the better striker. Everything is different now, Ilia overplayed his hand and I bet people really don't want to see that fight as much now at 170. Morales and Prates are better options.

The fact that everyone is in here saying this guy is past his prime in his early 30s is insane to me.
If Islam fights more fights it's probably going to be legacy fights. Michael Morales just trounced #2 Sean Brady and I don't think he's eager to fight (much less lose to) a young up-and-comer like him. I think he wants to leave the sport on a high note and Kamara Usman probably fits that best as the most accomplished welterweight currently in the rankings, and with Usman also being an elite wrestler, Islam would love to prove that Dagestani wrestling prevails again. problem is, I don't think Usman has the momentum to make another run at the title. He probably has to win one more fight but I feel he's at a starting point of decline where he can defeat anyone below him but won't be able to defeat Belal or Shavkat who are above him.

This was a big money fight
skill/legacy wise,, this fight meant nothing. A pure striker x a pure grappler. Yay, surprising outcome.
I have rewatched so many fights, a few of them 3 or 4 times. The skillset, the feints, the grit.
This one has nothing to be seen again, except laughing about that bum getting ragdolled
