Opinion On Behalf Of Canadians...

In the latest bit of "Canadians are not actually united":

Federal government and Doug Ford: "We're going to cut off electricity to the US".

Quebec: "hold on a minute, maybe we don't want to do that.".

Doug and Co are being very emotional. It's not a battle they can win, or one they should be provoking.

Trump has truly unified the country. He is the great uniter.
In 2 days, PP, Marlaina and Kenney have all talked shit about him and supported the current govt.
As someone who hasnt given a fuck about Canadian patriotism since 1997 (you know why) it's wild to see such a united front.

usually this type of spat is resolved by a night of heavy drinking.
you guys have just been exceedingly nice to each other for so long that's turned into an annoyance. any relationship where you can't fight is awful.
trump's bringing passion back, all of you should be happy about it.

It's kind of fun to meme on Canada, but in real life, I have no ill feelings toward Canadians at all.

Since I'm a bit older, let's talk about the tech that Canada gave away.

- cell networks. The term 'cell' was coined by my 4th year microwaves professor.
- nuclear. Canada had the most advanced nuclear generation tech. Thanks to environmentalists, that lead went to shit
- fiberoptics to drive the interwebs. Fiber world was ahead of everyone.
- computer drawing packages (Corel draw). Don't laugh so hard, they were the standard at one time.
- smart phones (RIMM).
- data switching networking equipment. Yup, Nortel and Newbridge were ahead of Cisco.
- CAR T therapy (let's not even talk about this one)
- Cobalt-60 cancer therapy (I'm in this lineal academic tree)

tl;dr Canada is great at developing world changing technologies and even better at giving it away with no monetary value in return.

Why don't we turn the page and view this tariff crisis as the spark to create a prosperous economy that is less dependent on the US?
Don’t forget the Avro Arrow!

This isn’t lost on Trump.

Dictator Trudeau?

Absolutely! I'm just not old enough to know much about the details. From what i understand it went something like:

US: Canada cannot have a better fighter plane than the US.

Canada: OK. We'll destroy every last one, including the plans of how to build it.

Fucking retard-ville.

Pretty much.

Also, lol @ your original post citing "I'm a bit older" and then in response to mine "not that old, old guy". @Andy Capp about to come in here and tell us both to hold his beer.

<lol>

I find it hilarious like 80% of the posters constantly raging about Trump aren't even Americans.

I've seen all of the technologies that I listed go to waste. The AVRO aero was before I was born so I can't comment in great detail.
