I agree...as much as I like Charles his behaviour has been questionable especially when it comes to fighting Islam. I don't know if it's to do with Abu Dhabi but at the end of the day once the cage closes it's mano a mano.

Before the first fight, he kept complaining that Islam doesn't deserve a title shot whilst at the same time calling for a Connor fight.

Before the second fight was announced, he was behaving strangely then too. He said he wouldn't be ready for October but happy to fight in November onwards lol.

When the fight got announced many (rightly) said he would pull out and lo and behold that's what happened.

Last week he was calling for Connor again, anytime, any weight and any PLACE. Instead of being criticised people are still giving him a pass and making excuses for him!

Imagine the uproar if Islam had pulled out!

He hadn't beaten a top 5 opponent and his pre title fight was a short notice Bobby Green, Short notice Hooker who chose to stay because it was so hard to leave NZ at that time and then we had Moises before we had a ranked fighter. So he got the shot off beating unranked Green and Number 6 Hooker and number 15 ranked Moises. Bobby Green is now ranked at 10 off a beating T Ferg and Grant Dawson and going 2-2-1 (NC) and Hooker is 11 off a win over Jailin Turner and Claudio Puelles.

Islam destroyed Charles so it was irrelevant, but the only reason he got the title shot straight away was because Charles beat everyone else and Dariush got injured when they were matched to fight. This isn't a stab at Islam, because he won when it mattered, but anyone in the top 5-10 can beat the others on the right day.

The interview that everyone is saying he was calling for Conor is actually him talking about wanting the title shot first and the fight vs Islam. There was an entire thread already on that specific interview where this was pointed out.

I guarantee that this thread has shared more of that type of interview and tricked everyone thinking Charles is ducking Islam.

Islam was on an impressive winning streak. If he didn't deserve a title shot then neither did Charles for beating the ghost of Tony or Chandler for being a Bellator veteran.

On one hand Charles was calling for a Connor fight and on the other he wanted Islam to fight other guys. The irony was amusing. It was only when Rogan had a quiet word with Dana did common sense prevail.

Leading to the rematch, Charles was at it again. First he said he won't be ready until November then he accepted the fight. Perhaps he got a better offer but regardless, many remained skeptical and rightly so. Charles isn't the champ and there should be repercussions for pulling out so near a major event.

I realize that Gamrot is unknown to casuals (which isn't his fault, but the fault of UFC's lazy / incompetent PR department) and that the Tsarukyan and Fiziev fights could be held against him (again, not his fault, he's not an MMA judge, and he didn't fooking foul Fiziev to cause the injury).

The UFC has been making a bunch of decisions that absolutely shit on the last vestiges of real sport the UFC had. They'll shuffle everything around in any way they want to try to pry as much money out of fans as they can. I think it really became obvious when they threatened to strip Aljo if he didn't fight O'Malley on O'Malley's timeline or when they randomly rearranged fighters on the card where Khamzat fought Holland (and has recently hinted that he never missed weight, UFC wanted to change up the card).
