Older gamers, have you noticed a decline in your gaming skills? 30+

Lol , I just got a PS5 and am now looking to upgrade the TV to 120hz refresh rate and the TV has to have 4k HDR and be at least 42 inches ( more likely 55 it seems,) and be cheaper end of the market and not have lag or black smearing or something.

Kinda miss the huge crt TVs that you just got the biggest one you could afford in the brand you wanted.....

And yes , my gaming skills have dropped off ( but I don't play like I used to). Was playing God of War on the PS4 or 3 and I could get 3/4 through one section and couldn't make a specific swing and jump . Various expletives were issued and in the end my 17 year old came over and I told him to have a fucking go. He did one run on the section to work out the controls and then on his first proper run cleared the whole lot.

Fucking cunt.

Definitely a thing in games that involve a bit of platforming. My kid was smashing me on Roblox obbys when she was 7.

I was always trash with games that required alertness such as COD, given my adhd, since I turned 30 it declined further.

My skills deteriorated but I also play way less now too, at least that’s my excuse lol

When i was 15, i was mental at this.

Now, its not close. However, my tactical ability might have gotten better - Though, i do not really play games at the moment, even through i'd love to have the time.

Yes, my hand eye coordination is probably not as quick as it once was that's for sure.

im happy if i have a +1.00 k/d in COD. I think I average around 1.28 so meh.

bit i mainly play single player campaigns so theres that. i'd rather get lost in the story than have to worry about twitch tv sweats camo grinding and abusing every little trick in the book or complain about sbmm

I stopped playing after Sega Genesis and NES. I tried once to play call of duty at a buds and realized the skills passed me... I couldn't even hide in a corner without someone shooting me

I don't think my skills have declined but the skills you need have definitely increased 10 fold. Doesn't change the fact that with just two buttons and an arrow pad, I would skate circles around todays kids. lol

If I'm in the zone, I can still play games at a high level, as I'm less prone to rage and play smarter generally, but father time is undefeated.

Where I really saw the decline in my twitch skills was with Fuzion Frenzy on the OG Xbox. Back in the early 2000's, If I had the outside or second outside lane, I could go near endlessly in the practice mode, where the game didn't stop when there was one person left.

I played it again a few years ago. I could feel my age and it was humbling lol. I was good at the game instantly back then, as it's just a simple two button timing/twitch thing. Even with a bit of practice I just can't do what I used to. It's like I can feel my own lag lol.

As someone close to mid-40's now, I definitely feel a drop in response time and the ability to compete at a high level in many FPS games. Slower ones like Halo, I am still pretty great at, as I can plan ahead and tell where they will be. The real twitchy ones like COD, and I am not nearly as good as I was 15-20 years ago. Also, it probably hurt when I started playing more strategy and tactical games, as I became unused to playing those really fast games. The world has left me behind now.

I always sucked at FPS. Something about the crosshairs and never really liking the lineup so I bejgsdhgldnsvcsodfk all over that one little spot I'm trying to hit

I still kill everyone in StarCraft II. But I don't know if that's a statement to my response time or my strategy/planning ability.

Yeah things were so simple 20 years ago. Get a quality CRT with component input for PS2 and/or XB and you were set.
I still have a 14" Trinitron (that actually has s video) in storage that's still damn near brand new.
