No body mentioned To Kill a Mockingbird yet?

12 Angry Men. Ben-Hur, The 10 Commandments, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington are some of favorites.

Excellent list.

Such a great flick. I've gotta do a Bette Davis marathon someday

Ha. I'm trying to convince my husband to watch it. I made him watch What Ever Happened to Baby Jane a few months ago. I think he liked it.

Came in here to say this. It's excellent. Finally got around to watching it on Turner Classic Movies a couple of years ago. We'd probably watched it in high school or something but that doesn't count since every movie is awesome when you get to watch it in class.

But yeah it's really good.

Dr. Zhivago is about the only old movie I sort of enjoyed.
Also Gallipoli with Mel Gibson was OK.

Babes in Toyland aka March of the Wooden Soldiers (1934)

My mother used to show it to me and my brothers when we were young. I still love it. That Barnaby is one evil bastard! Dude unleashes the bogeymen! Lol. Such a great old flick.

Doesn't meet the intent of this thread, but I love this movie...I don't care what anyone says. It is a classic in my book. It will be weird in 20 years when they remake it...again.

The Fast and the Furious is a great fucking movie and one of my favorites of all time. I'll always love it. We can argue about the sequels, but the first film is untouchable.

The 1960s was an incredible decade for movies, imo.

Really? I actually think the 1960s was kind of shitty. Lots of very weird, seemingly drug-induced films from that decade.

But the 70s. . . That's the era where guys like Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola, Lucas, Stone and the Scott Bros really broke onto the scene. It was like a re-birth of film.

French cinema was amazing In the 50's/60's. 70's might be the GOAT decade but 60's is worth a look

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

While not cinematic masterpieces, I like me some John Wayne movies on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

M- 1931 classic by Fritz Lang
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - Bogart's best
Vertigo - Hitchcock's best
Throne of Blood - Kurosawa's Macbeth

Now I should specify "old," because I know there are some young ones on this site for whom 90's is old. But I'm talking in the '60s or earlier.

Honestly, I've almost never enjoyed an old movie, other than some Hitchcock like Rearview Mirror and Psycho. I found Birds and Vertigo to be terribly boring (although, fun fact, I stayed at the hotel in the movie in Vertigo, which is now itself called Vertigo).

Any other good classic films you actually enjoy?

Hitchcock is my fav ever director, he's a god to me, Vertigo is my fav Hitch film, beautiful soundtrack too

although my fav Hitch film soundtrack is North By Northwest
