That's always a potential issue when you have a mesh top. However, to the XSX's advantage, it expels the air out of the top, so it's blowing any settled dust or particulates in the opposite direction. If you don't leave it sitting around turned off for half a year at a time I doubt there will be a problem.
I will say this, I had an extremely difficult time figuring out how to keep temps down on my mini-itx 4K-capable gaming PC when I first built it. The XSX and PS5 are even smaller, with almost the same amount of horsepower. Consoles are custom built so its not a 1 to 1 comparison, but I wonder if Microsoft and Sony put a lot of pressure on their engineers to make a 4K 60FPS console, and bit off more than they can chew.
This is pretty much exactly how my mini gaming PC works. It exhausts air out of the top. There's almost never any dust in that area of my PC. Its usually built up by the intake fans. Works like a charm.

Plus don't forget the top has that green plastic insert just under the holes, i'd imagine that helps with the dust too

The biggest advantage here, at least for single player games or any games that aren't latency sensitive, is yet more relief to storage. If you can stream to the console, not just phones, then these are more games you don't have to store on the hard drive.
You're also being a clown now, that's not even close to shitting on the idea of getting the console and I've posted a bunch of PS5 news and updates this whole time. You guys are gonna have to do better than a gif in response to launch exclusives.. So yes very different.
