Xbox Official Xbox thread

People going nuts over some faster loading times and higher fps on old games....

Thats the big next gen thing? I can wait then....

Not me. I’ve stopped playing Spiderman midway through and put a pause on Sekiro.
I’m dying to play it on the new console (PS5). Gonna wait till Feb though.

That’s ok. I still have a couple of AC (Syndicate and Unity) and MGS V and Wildlands to go through, on the PS4.
Along with my Bloodborne farming.

This is great for me because I enjoy sports games but not enough to buy the newest version every year so I just end up getting last years version anyhow.

That’s pretty much only what EA Play is good for.
Try both Battlefields too, if you haven’t played them.

People were asking him to test it on a wide screen. Not sure if they'll ever go that route, probably annoying for the developers but who knows.

They definitely need to do a better job with the field of view for console games. It can really suck if there's no option to change it for some games.

If they can put PSNow on Windows why can't they put Game Pass on Playstation?

I have a 21:9 monitor. Basically every computer game recognizes it and runs fine on it. There shouldn’t be any excuse console games can’t figure it out

Okay, since my efforts to inform are always nitpicked, I took time to rework the Exclusive lists I compiled, and provide further clarification with this post. While Gematsu is my primary source, I don't care for their "Retail" and "Download" labels. That doesn't really mean anything in 2020. Instead, I broke the exclusives lists into three categories:

(1) Exclusives Launching on this gen
These are games developed for the new consoles, or simply releasing after their launch. Some may also have versions releasing on the previous gen, too, but these aren't older exclusives from the previous gen. These include all effective exclusives: Full, Platform, Console, and Timed exclusives.
(2) Indie Exclusives Launching on this gen
Same as above, but smaller titles that are self-published by developers who only publish their own games, or are otherwise marketed as indies at game expos, by the press, or on Steam (when a PC version exists).
(3) Previous Gen Optimized Exclusives
These are games which launched during the previous gen, sometimes on PC, prior to the newest console release dates (PS5= Nov-12; XSX = Nov-22), but which have already been confirmed with a dedicated, optimized version for the new consoles. Some may still not yet be released.

The PS5 doesn't have a single exclusive they have named as part of their "PS5 Upgrade" program confirmed from the previous generation. Their only exclusive PS5 Upgrade game is the indie release Kena: Bridge of Spirits which is set for release after the PS5. Thus, none of the PS4's exclusives are declared to be optimized versions. Rather, as they've previously announced, these will just be PS4 games running in PS4 mode on the PS5. This is the key difference. If you wish, you can read more comparing upgrade promises between Microsoft and Sony by visiting the link below. The Xbox has roughly double the game count:
https://forums.sherdog.com/posts/161761352/

With that clarification for category #3 out of the way, some have also stressed PS4 exclusives will be playable on the PS5 at launch via PSNow. This may be, but in reality, many of their most popular exclusives don't appear on PS Now, and one has to research to know if that game can be downloaded at all. Most cannot be downloaded. Otherwise, you must cloud-stream. This suffers from latency issues like lag. Notes comparing services:
PS Plus + PS Now vs. Game Pass Ultimate said:
  • Above all, major first party games are not all Day 1 releases on PSNow. Most of the most popular exclusives take many years just to appear on the service-- if they ever will. For example, Marvel's Spider-Man, God of War (2018), Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, Days Gone, Driveclub, inFamous: Second Son, The Last Guardian, MLB: The Show (any year), and The Order: 1886 are not currently offered on the service-- among others. These are all SIE productions, and some are five years old.

  • Currently 369 of 852 games (43.3%) on the PSNow service are downloadable: Here is a list of all PSNow downloadable games.

  • 100% of games on Game Pass are downloadable. There are 251 games in the Xbox Game Pass catalog, currently. There are 395 games in the Ultimate Game Pass catalog, currently. Furthermore, this fall, EA Play Pass games will be added to Game Pass Ultimate for no additional charge. There are 91 Games in the EA Play Xbox Vault. There are 203 games in the EA Play PC Vault. The latter doesn't count available DLC for those games.

  • If on PC using PSNow, you are only allowed to stream games, not download them, and streaming is limited to 720p.

  • Unlike Game Pass, there is no 20% game discount and 10% DLC discount for any content on the PSNow service if you wish to purchase it permanently.

  • You can't earn Reward Points to spend in the PS store for playing on the PSNow service like you can with Game Pass.

  • You must stay subscribed to PS Plus in order to play freebies claimed on the service (Xbox Live Gold & now Game Pass Ultimate allow offline play on the penultimate console in perpetuity, currently the Xbox 360, without maintaining a subscription).

  • PSNow has no "All Access" financing program allowing monthly payments that bundles the console with the service, and which effects a discount of the total combined retail cost, ultimately.

  • PSNow is not compatible with Remote Play, so it offers no streaming from the console to other devices over the WiFi (Xbox Console Preview), and it offers no streaming from the cloud to your device anywhere (Project xCloud). Game Pass does.

  • PSNow offers no "Play Anywhere" program of titles syncing game progress between PC and PS4/PS5.

  • PSNow is only available in 19 countries compared to Game Pass's 40.
