Xbox Official Xbox thread

I mainly got a One X because of all the backwards compatible games. Many of which were enhanced. Like the old PS2/Xbox Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in 4k native on the Xbox One X.

End exclusives, everyone could play together. Games wouldn't have to waste time porting to different consoles. What exactly does the competition do for us now? split the gaming community and they play with each other like 1960's segregation. The consoles are near identical in specs and what they can do each time.

Big bad sony? Idgaf who has the monopoly. I just wanna play on my PC with my console peasant friends, and for games to survive for longer online because everyone can play together.

I find it funny you immediately thought I was pro xbox when I didn't mention either company lmao. You really don't read comments before you reply which is why no one takes your salty ass seriously.

Lol, the guy I responded to was advocating for the end of the PlayStation brand. You then interjected yourself without mentioning any specifics so yeah, it’s pretty safe to assume someone who did that is in favor of the same thing.

Interjected creating a new separate from that one, key difference being I didn't advocate Microsoft ending Sony or the other way around. Gotta learn to read there chief.

Let’s see, if Microsoft was the only console manufacturer, since that was what was actually being proposed. We’d have Kinect forced down our throats which came with a higher cost, they could implement their DRM, no issues there, coupling that with their new push to limit consumer rights even more by pushing disc-less consoles and force you to buy the rights to a product, not the actual product itself, and we wouldn’t have a Switch and all its awesomeness.

Sounds like a fantastic plan, and a small price to pay to be able to “play with your friends” lol.

Again please learn to fucking read. What was being proposed was Sony vs Microsoft, Nintendo was not part of that, they would still make consoles. Jesus Christ dude for once read a conversation with out just adding random shit you assume.

Kinect? I've owned every xbox and never once owned a kinect so I have no idea how they could force that down your throats.

DRM, isn't really an issue.

Disc-less really isn't a issue to most people nowdays either, have you ever heard of Steam? Epic Games? GOG? Have you heard of a thing called computers? I don't even have a disk drive on mine and I've own 150+ games on steam. It's nearly 2020 champ move into this century.
But I can definitely see why clinging onto outdated technology like DVD's and Bluray is appealing to some. The opportunity to lend games to your friends or to resell it. Someone please think of the poor bastards at game trading stores who pay you $6 and resell the game for $30.

Microsoft caved and removed the Kinect and DRM due to people flocking to Playstation. Market choice. DRM is an issue which is why people flocked to Playstation. Market choice. Game sales are still floated by physical. Sony has stated they’ll keep a disc drive for at least another generation. I doubt Microsoft would follow suit. Market choice forcing their hand again.

Relax, bud. You interjected yourself into the conversation by acting like I was wrong by suggesting competition was bad. Exclusives and features drive competition. Ending that competition is bad for just the few things I’ve mentioned. Some of the biggest multiplayer/multiplat games are supporting cross platform play and I can only imagine it would grow from here.

Did you worry when your car removed your cassette player? Remember when apple removed the AUX port and everyone cried and bitched and said boycott Apple, and then all the other companies followed suit?
Removing the disk drive will happen, Sony is just pandering to consumers who don't want to move forward in technology until they're forced to.
Its the exact same thing as Apple vs Samsung. One companies does one thing people don't like and the other company jerks those people off and keeps it for a generation before following suit and doing the exact same thing.
Another thing is how much pollution is caused in the creation and discarding of disks? Why keep using obsolete technology when better exists?

By removing the disk drive there are still ways they could sell the game at a store, USB, SD card, its what Nintendo do (with their proprietary game cartridges). Could simply be an advancement to a new form of game cartridge and a new proprietary way for the company to give you the games.
Though these are still plastic and probably just as much pollution just in a smaller more compact size.

It's inevitable, and MS might actually be ahead of the curve in this regard. I don't believe consoles themselves are going to be fighting with each other, as much as the services they provide. Game exclusivity is only going to carry companies so far in the future, as universal connectivity becomes more of a selling point.

MS already has a foothold in that market, being the company behind Windows and all. Sony might find themselves going the way of Nintendo, if they shut the larger percentage of the market share out. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily. Nintendo carved out a niche rather admirably, avoiding what the mainstream was doing. Sony just might not be #1 in the very near future.
 
MS is smart for porting all console games to the PC. Either way, they're getting a piece of it. Sony doesn't have that luxury, so they use their exclusives to sell consoles. And it's been working, so far.
