MarQ of Wombat Sports shared some info on ProWMMA blog radio about a few of the fighters who were cut. He said there were five women who have announced through social media that they were not invited to continue with the reality show. He also mentioned that taping starts in early June.

This thread is awesome to follow TUF 20. Wonder if Dana is thinking about 105 after seeing so many natural atomweights?

I'm glad Invicta didn't go that way.
They badly wanted to. Invicta had a planned reality TV show and even shot a pilot. Shannon made a big deal about it last year. No network picked it up. Oh well.

Thanks, Leek! Loving these little insights and glimpses behind the scenes, makes the next few months (until the first SW match between what I hope is Gadelha vs. Lynn Alvarez [who suspiciously *wasn't* at TUF tryouts] at the TUF Brazil Finale card), bearable.

Lynn Alvarez's Sherdog Profile
6-3 (two of those losses are from JAG and Esparza, and her first win was a 1st round sub of Michelle "Karate Hottie" Waterson!)

She has yet to go the distance, finishing (or being finished) in all of her fights, mostly by submission), she is a hard paced fighter (considers herself a KO specialist, too) who could challenge Gadelha and give an exciting inaugural UFC Strawweight fight.

8 Questions Jenny Liou: First Asian American Female Fighter in UFC/TUF?

By Tina | Wednesday, April 30, 2014 | No Comments

It was crazy awesome news last fall when the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) announced that their 20th season would be the first with all female fighters, and that the winner of the TUF 20 tournament would be crowned the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Inaugural Women’s 115lb (Fixed it for them.) Strawweight Champion.

There are only a few spots left on the cast, and confirmed fighters gunning for those spots were just announced last week. Among the contenders is Jenny Liou who is, as far as I have found, the only Asian American female contestant. If Liou makes it on TUF, she will be the first American of Asian descent on the show, and if she signs with UFC, she will be the first female Asian American UFC fighter. Trailblaze much?

Liou just made her pro-debut this year and has won both of her pro MMA fights so far. She is also a Ph.D., a college literature professor, and an a poet on top of being a professional MMA fighter. We look forward to great things from this real life woman warrior. Check out Liou’s journey to the cage in 8Questions.

Andy Wang & Nam Pham.

It is pretty clear the people who put together that article didn't know much about the UFC or MMA but it is still a good read for people interested in Liou. I had to fix their comment on Strawweight being at 125lbs.

I hope you two actually do understand that that information is a copy and paste from the article, not my own thoughts, knowledge, or comment on the subject.

These two comments seem to be to be passive aggressive and have a prerogative quality to them aimed at me.

If that is what you intend that is your business but expect to be blocked by me as a result.

TUF 20 Tryouts: Projecting the Final 8 Women to Make the Cast

By Riley Kontek , Featured Columnist
Apr 29, 2014

The talk of Twitter Monday morning and afternoon was definitely the tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter 20. That is because it is the first season that features all women and will crown a champion at the end of the season.

From the tryouts, MMA Junkie confirmed that there were 36 women who showed up to the open tryouts in an attempt to make the cast of the show.

Older article but it is something on Sharice Davids.

Native Sun News: Sharice Davids -- A lawyer with urge to fight
Tuesday, October 29, 2013

By David Michaud
Native Sun News Correspondent

PINE RIDGE— Going into her first professional fight Sharice Davids is ready to show just what a true martial artist can do.

Currently living and training in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Davids has been a martial artist for the past 13 years. She began training when she was 20 years old and has never stopped.

“I have been training since I was 20 and had always been fascinated with martial arts,” said Davids.

I just noticed an error in the article and pointed it out. IDK why you would interpret either post as a personal attack. It wasn't my intent and I doubt it was Ashenthorn's either.

Baszler's mom is chinese, or is that not "pure" enough to qualify? :icon_neut

I have no idea. You'd have to ask the 8Question website. I've pointed out that they seem to have little knowledge of MMA.

If you are so concerned about this topic, I'd suggest you ask them about it. There is a link to their webpage under the article.

If I don't see you asking that question there then I will assume this comment is aimed at me.

And I'll block you as a result as I will assume, correctly, that this comment is not aimed at fixing anything but questioning me about what I am not sure.

I'm not here for people to attack for whatever reason, real, or imagined.

Figure that out for yourself but I won't care.

nvm, I see you're feeling touchy today :)

That's cool. And appreciated. 8)

I might be sick as a dog at the moment but I've never gone seeking to be annoying to people either. Just see some potentially interesting stuff and share it.

Despite the problems with that websites's knowledge of MMA it is nice read on getting to know Liou.

Too bad the conversation about that article is about their mistakes on MMA/UFC/TUF rather then Liou.

That's cool. Thanks for your comment.

I wonder if they would fix those errors, from the weight mistake to adding comments on other fights with Asian backgrounds if they had comments they could access on their website.

I think seeing myself quoted with inaccurate information under my name left me upset and didn't see the point in it. If that would help you understand where I was coming from, probably not the best place but that happens sometimes when, sick, but otherwise having a decent time sharing stuff and seeming to get egg-on-the-face for your trouble is the result.

good to hear germaine finally has a fight. sounds like it could be a good fight.

Good for them both. Germaine will have her work cut out for her keeping it on her feet. Milana loves to get the fight to the ground but she tends to go for submissions as soon as she can and gets into trouble for it.

Not only finally a fight for Germaine...but Milana fighting in the UFC...somewhere outside of Russia/Ukraine?! Wow! She has always had the talent, in my opinion (much like Rin), she`s just been afraid to test the waters, try tougher competition, and allow impartial judges.:D DeRandamie better have improved her takedown defense or this one will be over soon...and the heavies will be ablaze with reports of a "new strong Russian fighter" who will "smash" Ronda.

Jarl

P.S. Like the GIF of Penne putting on a clinic at the tryouts. She is damn good!

P.P.S. @Thirdpres, I`ve discussed things with both Ashenthorn and Ben236 before...They are just WMMA fans like everyone else here. I sincerely doubt it was there intention to be passive aggressive or critical towards you. Ashenthorn likes to tell jokes (usually good ones), but he doesn`t mock people. There is only one person on the WMMA threads I`ve ever encountered who needed to be blocked...and it wasn`t them!

Agreed on Randamie needing to have her takedown defense in order.

Same on the GIF. Penne equals good stuff on the ground.

8)

I've chatted with both of them many times before. And enjoyed the conversations.

I'd have understood the comments a little more if they were aimed at a MMA website but a general purpose website with a focus on Asians not so much or why anything was quoted with myself associated left me wondering what the point of it all was.

I appreciate the thoughts though, on several levels.
