The Future has Arrived: Allison Gonier

i think someone posted this on my facebook page. i know i've seen it quite a few times before, anyway. it's great, always makes me smile. :D the showtime kick off the cage and the big punch after a cage jump really got the crowd going!

Thanks I just thought the fight wasn't online anyway. Porto looked monsterish. Really puts into perspective how good the Invicta 125'ers are.

I would be happy if Zoila can make 115 regularly. There are a lot of neat-o match ups for her now, and she's been in a better gym for her last few fights.

vanessa has been really looking sharp as of late. really sharp! i'm not sure a rematch with honchak would go much differently than the first, but anyone else at 125 is in for some trouble.

Yeah. I've seen that one before but I couldn't help myself. It is cute and makes me smile.

Agreed on the "Knees!"

Porto is tough. I'd love to see her mix it up a bit more.

It would be interesting to see Zoila back at 115. 125 still have a few fights worth watching for her if she still has one more fight at Invicta at 125 but otherwise 115 has a ton of them.

I was thinking that if the UFC picked up Zoila they could say they have the one fighter who really beat both Jessica Aguilar and Megumi Fujii.

Although I didn't feel Zoila won those fights it would still be a marking ploy for her to face Lima ,or Gadhela, to see who fights the TUF 20 based champion. It would allow them to avoid the issue of Jessica Aguilar not currently being in the UFC or how there is still plenty of controversy over Aguilar's fights with Fujii.

Just something to think about.

??? what has that got to do with WMMA.

on topic, i don't agree with Gadelha getting pulled from the house if the reason was weight issues. that is wrong.

??? what has that got to do with WMMA.

People thought the UFC's announcement had something to do with Invicta & Fight Pass.

It seems Dana isn`t too keen about picking up fighters with just a couple pro fights. I think he has a point there. It also makes speculating on the eight women who will be chosen a bit easier. But if Invicta was smart, they would have Julie waiting behind the building where the tryouts are taking place ready to sign some of these promising 115ers to replenish their own SW ranks.

Well, Zoila has lost three straight at 125 and has kind of proven she isn`t a top fighter in that division any more. At 115, she has a lot of power, though. It would be interesting to see her join the SWs in the UFC. I bet she would beat a lot a fighters there.

I saw this article just now. Normally I wouldn't post the whole thing but it is in Portuguese and I don't see any options for translating it on the site, very strange.

Candidates for the TUF 20 count with the help of Veterans of the UFC in tests

Weights-roosters Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate attended to sectionals
of the program to assist team mates to get into the House

By Evelyn Rodriguez
Las Vegas, Usa

The UFC held in Las Vegas on Monday, sectionals for the 20th Edition of The Ultimate Fighter in the us. The program, which will have Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez as coaches, will begin to be recorded in the first week of July, and the winner will be crowned the Ultimate straw-weight champion. In total, 36 fighters participated in the tryouts this second, and the only Brazilian participation was the bantamweight Amanda Nunes, who fight in the UFC and that was in place following a training companion:

-Today at sectionals has no Brazilian, but I brought a who trains with me, which is Nina Ansaroff, a thick shell. The weather here is wonderful, right? Even the people who fight in the UFC has been through this expectation entering the biggest MMA event in the world, so I'm more nervous than she was here in support.

The 28-year-old Nina fight three years ago as a professional mixed martial artist and has a cartel of six wins and three losses. While waiting for your time to participate in the tests, she seemed quite safe and concentration:

It's something I've waited for some time, since I heard that the UFC would have straw-weight Division. I've been training hard with Amanda every day, she is already part of the UFC and I hope to go soon. I fight for 22 years, kickboxing so I have plenty of experience at the standing-declared.

Miesha Tate (Centre) was to help two tryout
teammates (Roxy and Heather Jo Clark)(photo: Evelyn Rodrigues)

A few yards away, the number three-ranked Bantamweight Championship bout and eternal rival of Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, passed the latest instructions for two team-mates Chelsea Bailey, of 22 years, and Heather Clark, of 33 years-they were about to step on the mat to be evaluated:

-This is a totally different experience for me, because in the last edition was a secret that I would be one of the trainers, so I couldn't follow that climate or sectionals to enter the House, but I've been at sectionals for the 14 Edition, in which Bryan Caraway participated, so I kind of knew the process. It is very nice to see so many talented girls here today and my advice to them, especially for Chelsea and for Heather, is to give all of you, because today is the day to go out there and show what you came from, it's like day of struggle. You have to do everything with intensity, even if it's just an interview. You have to do everything in the best way, because there are many girls and few vacancies-Miesha said.

Chelsea was one of the younger girls to seek a seat in the House and was a bit worried about her lack of experience. Heather already seemed quiet as few and spoke with security who has 10 career MMA fights:

-I train MMA for a little over six years and have six wins and four defeats. Practice today with Miesha Tate and Roxanne Modafferi, but ever trained at Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque and had the pleasure to do sparring with some of the best MMA fighters in the world, as Julie Kedzie, Holly Holm and etc. They prepared me for this moment and I know I am ready just in case.

TUF Tryout 20 (photo: Evelyn Rodrigues)
The fight on the ground is one of the points evaluated by leaders (Top looks like Michelle Ould)(photo: Evelyn Rodrigues)

Another fighter to try a spot on TUF 20 was Angela Hill, 29, who was in line for a spot in the House less than 48 hours after you have made your first MMA fight of his career:

-I train MMA for three years and I fight muay thai for five years. I'm unbeaten at muay thai there are 16 fights, with four knockouts and just made my first MMA fight on Saturday. You have to do everything in its power to get in the House, right? It was very difficult to get a fight on behalf of my cartel in muay thai, so nobody really wanted to fight me. I fought on Saturday night and my trainer of MMA is a pastor, so we drove down to Florida, he celebrated a wedding, and then we went to Atlanta by car, get on a plane and arrive at midnight last night. Now I'm here, I feel like I'm dreaming. I'm feeling a little out of touch with reality, but I hope everything works out.

The chance to compete for a spot on TUF arrived on a special moment in the life of Lisa Ellis. Ex-fighter of the Invicta FC and Bellator, the straw-weight have a cartel of 15 victories and eight defeats and was away from competition since I got pregnant. On Monday, she attended the selective with the daughter He, nine months pregnant, and her husband Eddy, and could barely hold back my tears when speaking of the opportunity and take part in the tests:

-It is very important to have them here, my heart is in pieces to think I can part with them for a while. I never thought I would get that chance in the UFC one day, so I'm excited by that. Of course the door opened at a time that wouldn't be ideal, because just being a MOM, it's going to be a difficult test, but I'm going to go through him. I'm going to come out even stronger that everything-said.

Nervousness and bonus for submissions

When the test chamber doors were opened, at 11:0 in the morning, the UFC President, Dana White welcomed the girls, who were divided into two groups of 18 participants.

-Let's call it two names and you have two minutes to fight on the ground. We're paying $ 100 (about $ 230) who get a submission, but don't kill each other! Is to be something fun, so give it your best shot, but nothing hurt the opponent. Good luck! -He said.

After tests on the ground, all the girls were called to introduce themselves beating gauntlet. Of the 36 candidates, eight will be selected to enter the House and two will be pre-selected, if necessary any replacement participant:

It's going to be a very cool editing of TUF and the girls certainly have selected a lot of guts and willpower. Not to mention that women generally are more intense than men and also nastier. I got tired of asking for them doesn't hurt, but it was not until I announce the bonus for those who get a submission that you saw what happened. If I offer it to male divisions fighters, don't have that kind of problem. These girls are crazy (laughs)-Dana stated, after the first part of the tests.

Dana White (dir.) conversation with Sean Shelby (Center) and Joe Silva (photo: Evelyn Rodrigues)

The President of Ultimate, however, confessed that he was surprised at the technical level of the candidates who were in place:

-I was impressed with the first intake of girls who entered, but some of them had only one or two fights in the cartel and we can't put these girls in this situation, because they will compete for the title of the category. Some of them will face girls undefeated or with record of 11 WINS and two defeats, so you have to choose more experienced girls to enter the House.

The Ultimate matchmaker, Sean Shelby, also explained to Combate.com that the criteria used for the selection of candidates were more strict in setting this second:

technique in the Clinch (Angela Hill)(photo: Evelyn Rodrigues)

-This edition is different from the other, because there is a lot more at stake. The final battle will be for the title, so that makes this issue more special and the cartel of fighter counts for a lot this time, we are looking for girls with as much experience as possible. There are many girls who are undefeated two or three fights only, and we're really looking for people with more experience. Here, during the selective, what I'm looking for in a candidate is that they try to get the submission at all times, be aggressive, have a striking clear, show that they really came from. The good news is that the good ones, one way or another, will always end up in the UFC. Look Ben Henderson, for example, he is a perfect example. He participated in a setting for the TUF and entered the House and later I found on the internet. He had posted a video on YouTube with his selective program and I couldn't believe that he had not been selected! That's when I hired him immediately to the WEC. So what I can say is that anyone who has not passed today, can't stop believing. Many girls today were selected not because they didn't have enough fights, but I'm sure we will see them soon-explained.

As already reported by the Combate.com, the Brazilian Claudia Gadelha and Juliana Lima will no longer participate in the TUF 20, but have already signed a contract with the UFC. According to the matchmaker, the fact that the two are not at home is not a bad thing:

-The Brazilian fighters are very strong and very technical. One of the best Brazilian fighters will fight in the UFC soon. Claudia Gadelha is wonderful, one of the best, if not the best straw-weight today. Juliana Lima is also coming up, so I'm excited to see them in the UFC. As soon as this issue is over, we will have a champion and need challenging immediately. Lima and Gadelha are two of the TOP challengers that will probably be very close to the belt-finished.

"I'm Irish and everybody loves an Irish girl. I think they would be silly if they didn't put me in the house."

I would love to see Ais in the house, just to have the medley of her and JoJo's accents contrasting against the American and Aussies.

Too bad somebody didn't do an Invicta TUF before these UFC TUFs.

Yeah unlike most previous TUFs, this is for the title.

It would be crazy to sign someone with like one pro fight.

Thanks for the vid clip, Leek. Very interesting. Jenny Liou`s 3-second armbar was pretty impressive (and from what I understand, earned her $100).

So, anyone know when the results will be announced?

@Ippy: Yeah, this TUF is a little different; it`s not meant to develop up-and-coming talent. They are there to decide a champ....so I`m not sure 1-0 or 2-0 fighters have a place. But, as Miesha said, those fighters get their foot in the door...and I`m sure Julie was there to sign a few Invicta contracts as well.
