P.S. Nice interview with Celine (below). Thanks, Thirdpres. Wouldn`t that be the greatest sports story ever if she just started rattling off wins, got signed by Invicta, continued her winning ways and won the AW belt?
Mizuki Inoue is often listed around 5'4'' while Ayaka Hamasaki is often listed around 5'2''. Inoue started adding on muscle weight for her fight against Bec Rawlings, I suspect Hamasaki has tried to add muscle mass but is unhappy with the result.
She is shorter and has a smaller overall frame not only in comparison to Inoue but, increasingly, to other strawweights who are all beefing up in the face of flyweights cutting down to fight there and fighters who are increasingly full time fighters.
Training, dieting, and, often, younger, are making it tough for some of the older fighters to compete at the highest level of each division.

that would be pretty cool..."yay".
+1 on the interview thank you.
aint gonna argue with you jarl as this is mma forum and not thai, ha! we shall agree to disagree! speaking of which, anyone have a boxer/thai fighter/wrestler in mind they think would make a good mma athlete. or any other sport, ive seen female rugby players just as athletic as wrestlers. jarl i will leave you with a pic of julie, for research purposes you understand...![]()
I also found myself mimicking her "Yay!" It could become her new nickname. Or, people might start chanting it when she tags opponents in the cage: [JAB TO THE FACE] "Yay!" [LEG KICK] Yay!
There could also be some awkward uses of "The Yay!" For example:
INTERVIEWER: Tell us about the last few seconds of the fight, Celine.
CELINE: Well, I had wrist control, so I fell back into a pretty deep armbar. She wouldn`t tap, so I gave her a grizzly, excruciating dislocated elbow. She won`t be able to use her left arm for a few weeks. Yay!

I remember seeing a facebook pic of Nakamoto with a really badly bruised up leg. Was that Julie's work?OKay, I confess: Julie has powerful kicks!

OKay, I confess: Julie has powerful kicks! And, I love(d) watching her fight as well. Just, Miriam is my fav and I defend her like SevarianB defends Michelle.
Interesting that 6 months ago, in an interview, Ayaka said there was no truth to the rumors that she was dropping to 105. But then, during the same interview, she was like, "But that might not be a bad idea and I wouldn`t rule it out for the future." Now, she is leaping right in and taking on Sugi Rock. I don`t think Sugiyama is the 3rd best atom weight in the world, but she is a pretty good fighter and will give a Hamasaki a decent test (but, ultimately, Hamasaki by armbar in the 2nd).
Even without Penne, atomweight is really shaping up. And, Invicta might become their battleground. We could see Celine, Jinh Yu Frey, Ayaka, Naho, Michelle, and Amber Brown fighting each other in the not too distant future...in the cage (not ring). Indeed, atom weight could be the new straw weight for Invicta, as far as most exciting division.
Inoue vs. Tomimatsu 2? Hopefully Emi won`t win via (the incredibly rare) "getting armbarred" again.

IFMA 2009: 3 fights in 5 days...pre warm-up massage before the 3rd fight vs. Morocco.
Thanks Thirdpres. This and the multi round slugfest against the much bigger Julie Kitchen are the things that make me roll my eyes when people say Miriam was losing because she had been given a bloody nose in her last fight.
