I agree RAmoNa

Sorry, this made me giggle.

The UFC has only ever been able to market those who market themselves.

This is done 100% on purpose, and its why they got as big as they have. The only way they could pull it off is to have the UFC as a promotion be the big deal, instead of the individual fighters. I really feel this is why they started to cut back on the big entrances also.... Nobody is to be bigger then the UFC.

The said reality is it should be the other way around.

It must be if they are going to grow.

Wow, I guess the co-main result made a lot of people very happy, huh?
Not me, of course :( Actually I was so shocked that I had to pause the vid and get a few hours of sleep before I could continue watching for Jon-Gus.

Anyway, congrats to Amanda. Hope she makes the best of this and finally gets some love and recognition from the fans.

I'm curious where they go from here: Nunes, Cyborg, w145.
Cruz pretty immediately suggested a rematch. I'm not against it and it could probably sell quite well (also I vaguely remember some talk that Cris may have a rematch clause in her contract(s)(?)), but maybe there are better options (and no, I don't mean getting rid of wFW) that are a bit more of a longterm mindset.
It's really unfortunate that Megan vs Cat went so disappointingly, a good win/performance of either would have had great opportunity to take advantage of the upset in the co-main. Of course it all also depends on what Amanda decides to do and if she plans to defend at 145.

Cris and Miesha seem rather content and at peace with what happened to them, lol. Especially Miesha - she looks like she's having happy daydreams there on that wall :D
I know right? The three of them look like they are meditating, not decapitated.

Superhappy that Amanda won, because I thought it was mismatch (mainly because of physical strength and size, but gladly that wasn't problem) People can forget about Cyborg and focus on really talented fighters, Cyborg was last from old generation...
Cyborg lost because she never was challanged before, that's true. Even Karolina Kowalkiewicz who is not really talented striker was more disciplined and calculated when she was destroyed by Andrade. Karolina faced top fighters before, took L's and hard fights. Cyborg was takin easy fights. That's why even girl like Karolina is for me better fighter than Cyborg.
Cyborg was panicking after first punches...

Well, after watching Hamasaki vs Asakura live, if Hamasaki is the number 1 atomweight like many say she is, Asakura isn’t even in the top ten. Looked like an amateur in there.

Next time Asakura trains in the states, she should go to a good striking gym.

Didnt Seo Hee Ham go the distance with a sub .500 can in her last bout
Why dont you tell the class about that

Watched Nunes vs. Cyborg a few more times. I don't think Nunes is beatable anymore, not even for Shevchenko. Barring mental hiccups, I don't see anyone with the skill set needed to beat her, she's become better defensively and improved her offence as well.

The left hook that she started playing with in the Pennington fight now has power behind it. She's also learned to change the path & angle of her punches to get them around the guard instead of punching everything straight in like she did in the past. Her footwork & timing continues to improve and she's getting better at reading strikes as well along with setting up her own shots. And she's learned how to use angles & positioning. She used to be very straight in & out, but in this fight there was a nice sequence where she cut Cyborg off on the fence and waited for her to move to her right to shorten up the path for her right hand, and as soon as Cyborg lined herself up she threw the punch and dropped her.

But most importantly, defence, she's learned head movement and distance control. She's learned to read incoming strikes and defend them with head movement, blocks, and footwork. In the past she's relied mostly on stiff-arming and jumping back out of range, but now she knows how to block, slip, and roll with punches while staying in range to return with her own punches. She can hang around in the pocket Robbie Lawler style to keep banging it out while defending instead of having to reset all the way back outside and giving her opponents a break.

The improvements that Amanda's made since joining ATT are remarkable by any measure. She's gone from a wild sloppy brawler to one of the best technical fighters in only 4 years. I think she's very close to if not the equal of de Randamie and Joanna, and only the Shevchenko sisters are a clear step above her in technical skills. That is fucking crazy.

For mma math purposes I really want to see Seo Hee Ham vs Alyssa Garcia.

The exchange I particularly liked was when Amanda first had Cyborg back up against the cage and she stepped in and across away from Cyborg's sloppy left, shortening the distance her right hand had to travel before slamming it home. The twisting motion gave more power to her follow-up left straight which came inside Cyborg's right and blasted her head back again. She stepped away from Cyborg who swung again, and missed, and proceeded to step forward into Amanda's right-left combo again. This was the left that dropped Cyborg again.

I also like how, before landing the finishing shot, Amanda stutter-stepped, went to throw the right, re-chambered it as Cyborg's hand came up and then cracked her on the temple hard enough to spin her around 90-degrees before she face-planted.

End conclusion: Holy fuck Nunes can crack. Everything else has made that even more effective.

If there is anyone that can be problems for Amanda Nunes it would
either be Ketlen Vieira or Germaine de Randamie because they are
both the same height or taller and they could match Amanda for size
especially Ketlen Vieira.

GDR was not a problem for an earlier version of Amanda, I do not see her doing any better now. I agree that Viera is the only real test. The kids/trolls in the main keep saying Holly, but Amanda has shown the ability to be patient when she needs to.

This is the disclosed purses for all the fighters. The more a fighter gets paid the higher the chances that disclosed is not even close to the amount they actually make. For example if you think Jon Jones only took home 500k guaranteed I have a bridge to sell you. With that being said Megan has a very nice contract for a person with only 1 fight in the UFC before this recent fight.

Megan is making what the UFC minimum should be.

If you're not worth 30k a fight, you shouldn't be fighting in the best promotion in the world.
