No Spoilers Official The Callisto Protocol Discussion [PS/PC/Xbox]

Damn looks like I was right, I cancelled my pre-order when I heard about reviews lifting the same day. Zero confidence they had, I'll pick it up on a deep sale.

PCGamer gave it a 79% which is fairly decent. Basically says it doesn't reinvent the wheel or defy any expectations, which is a double edged sword.

Gory and moody, The Callisto Protocol doesn't mess with the survival horror formula, instead embracing all its beats and clichés to tell a grim sci-fi tale that drips with menace.

I'll probably wait for a sale. Plus Marvel Suns is out and killing it with the reviews.

Damn the reviews are looking like garbage.

@GearSolidMetal @Zazen Sorry to whichever one of you said there were red flags and i was like "nah bro".

From what I've seen it looks like it plays like The Evil Within which also got mixed reviews based on its combat. A lot of these reviews seem to say the combat is too hard.

Too hard? Aren’t other reviewers complaining about the lack of NG+?

The complaints seem to be a mix between

- Unplayable on PC for 99%
- Game needs NG+
- Combat feels slow and sluggish
- Enemy encounters are thoughtless and at times unfair
NG+ is being added later, part of an update.

I was watching a Soulsborne streamer play a bit of it to see if I should buy it. He said it's difficult in the wrong ways.
I'm more likely to trust the word of someone like that on the difficulty than a games journalist to be fair lol I remember when Spyro Reignited came out there were some low scores because of difficulty, and don't forget the infamous Cuphead tutorial.

I suppose NG+ wouldn't be an issue if the game wasn't like 12 hours long

Good thing I'm still working my way through the post story content in Ragnarok and I might give Midnight Suns a try as well. I like what I've seen from the exploration out of combat and the character dialogue stuff.

Too many issues it seems, I’ll wait to play til later on.

That’s disappointing, looks like the Dead Space remake is my next chance for some survival horror.

I think this is about average for survival horror. Most of my RE playthroughs are 12 hours or so
Which has like 20 extra hours of content. To charge $70 for a 12 hour game which has little to no extra content on launch is a bit of an ask imo
