Official Summer Squat Competition

There's a squat contest? When did this happen? Wha....?
 
my 1 rm is 275 and ive only been squatting regularly for about 2-3 months
 
Andrew I think Urbans team is short a person or two so ask him...
 
Sorry Team Pump is now full, I think Standard is the only person left without a full team, try them (if you don't mind the whole AIDS thing).
 
Some quick notes. I'm going to look to update the main page about once every 2 weeks hopefully. This will of course come secondary to my own life so it may not always be as quick as this. Thankfully for all of you I dont have much of a life.

Team logs. Since I am going to be sifting through these to update the list I have a few requests.

1. When you are posting a new PR please limit that post to a simple PR: XXX without a lot of commentary. This will make it easier for me to sift them out when I am updating the contest.

2. If you could also post your starting weight when you update with a new PR that would be helpful although not strictly nescesary.


As far as new people wanting to join we currently have 2 spots that could use filling. One on team Urban and one on team Standard. If you are interested in joining please contact either of these captains asap. Urban/Standard if any of the sally come latelies meet with your approval shoot me a PM and I will update the page.

Just wandered into this thread. No idea how I missed it before.

If you need a spare let me know. I've been working on bringing up the squat recently so its in my plans already.
 
I'm wondering if we oughta let the latecomers be alternates.

It'd work like this -- they aren't officially on a team, but they are part of the competition and should train accordingly and track their progress, just like the rest of us.

Then, if a team member is knocked out of the comp by injury, drastic change in life circumstances, whatever, an alternate takes that person's place.

I'd say we start up a group of 10 alternates -- that's enough for 2 for each team -- and don't assign them to any team. If an alternate is needed, Winter can pick an alternate at random and assign him/her to the appropriate team.

At the end of the comp, we can take a look at the progress of the alternates who weren't assigned to a team. If "Team Alternate" ends up doing better than the rest of us, they get some kind of prize. Plus bragging rights, of course. that'll keep their enthusiasm up as the comp moves along.

Thoughts?
 
That's a good idea Flak. I don't know, maybe I'm just a nerd who logs on too much, but this competition had a good week of preparation for people to join.

Well, considering there was a about 4-5 days to decide WHAT the comp was (deads shoulda won), then more for the Cap-i-tans, and then more for the draft, I'd say there was enough time.

Then again, I'm on this everyday, and rarely go outside the Training Forums.

Yep, that's what I meant. Those threads were near the top of the list at all times, too.

And yeah, I haven't really gone outside the beloved S & P in a week or so.
 
I'm not suggesting the idea because I want to throw a bone to the people who didn;t sign up when they had the chance.

I'm suggesting it because we might actually have to deal with people leaving the comp.

I realize that there are other ways to address that, but this is a way that would ensure all teams had nine people when the comp ended.

if it was DLs or was BP i'd compete.

maybe next time when you're all crippled from smolovs, the playing field will be a little more even.
 
FS, we had a huge voting and squat won... it was close though.
