Official Summer Squat Competition

RULES
1. COMPETITION HAS BEGUN today May 30th and will last untill Sep. 22nd.

2. There will be five teams. Each team will consist of a captain and eight members.

3. The winning team will consist of the team whose sum total improvement in the squat is the highest at the termination of the competition. THE CAPTAINS COUNT! Will get captains numbers asap.

4. All members of the winning team must submit a video of the highest weight claimed by the end of the competition. Keith Wassung will judge these videos to determine if each qualifies.

5. Keith is god, his word is law. Any lifts found to be substandard will have 1 week to resubmit a qualifying lift or the second place team will be called upon to submit their videos.
(If you dont have a video camera join the club you have till September to beg, borrow or steal 1 deal with it.)

6. 1RMs will be used in all cases except those where a 1rm was not submitted by the start of competition. In that case either a 3 or 5rm may be used but only increases involving the same number of reps will be counted towards the team total.

7. Draft: The draft order will be selected based on the number of posts of each team captain those with the most posts selecting first. Each captain will select 1 player untill all available players have been selected. The order will reverse so the captain with the last pick in the first round will select first in the second round.

8. All squats will be back squats preformed raw or using a belt. * Other equipment is premited only if the starting lift was made using such equipment and only if it has been in use long enough that initial gains from the equipment are no longer prevalent.

Some notes on the videos.

Please tape from a side view. try to have the camera aimed straight ahead at about knee to waist height ( to prevent parallax)

i would use a camera prior to the final attempt for couple of reasons--1. Great feedback tool 2. Get used to using the camera 3. Camera adds 10lbs

Most Blockbusters rent video cams by the day.

There will be a couple of special awards ( pending approval by the Head Cheese and powers that be at Sherdog) such as Best technique, Best Psyche up routine, etc. etc.
prizes will be donated by yours truly and will likely be lifting publications that i have stored in my garage ( how about a 1945 Strength and Health with John Grimek on the cover) stuff like that.

I think the fantasy sport type draft will speed this thing along some...

Make a list of the competitors. Captains will have a day or two to rank the competitors and submit their lists to winteriscoming. Problem solved and no one ends up feeling like the fat kid in gym class.

 

Hey, without that kind of fat kid torment, those kids won't have incentive to stop being fat. It's a neccessary darwinian step... still, you're probably right.

 

Hi, id like to withdraw from the comp, Sorry if this causes any problems. Ive jut finished doing a 5x5 and i will be changing my focus more towards weight loss instead of PL. I will continue doing big three lifts i promise but i need to focus more on dropping fat right now. Sorry if this causes any problems at all.

This draft system is rubbish. Just allocate people to teams on a random basis. The draft will take forever.

Baruts idea will work fine if captains find that easier. If captains want to just rank the draftees and submit them to me I can setup the teams.
