One thing I noticed. Ngannou had his mouth wide open during a lot of the exchanges.

He was having cardio problems and leaving himself open to be KO-ed like that.

Fury was landing 1-2 strikes extra in most rounds only and finished the fight with only 11 more strikes than Ngganou overall. The majority of those were body punches and Francis had the edge in power punches as you said.

Sure if he was landing 5 to 10 extra strikes every round, I could see it with boxings terrible ruleset, but his volume was non existent and Francis was landing much bigger shots compared to the smoke and mirrors busy work of Tyson in that fight.

Tyson winning this fight is what's wrong with boxing scoring these days.

I would slightly edge favor Fury with effective aggression in the first two rounds. Would you not consider throwing more volume and having the slight advantage with landing more shots effective aggressive? He also just edged a few rounds from landing straight rights or a 1-2.

I didn't say Francis had the edge in power punches just that he had the biggest ones, the obviously left hook counter R3 and he had some nice flurries and short stiff shots in R8 which were the most memorable moments of the fight though statistically power punches were actually pretty even over the course of the fight.

I would agree with that last statement, from the perspective of a fight, Ngannou definitely won.

Ufc could have made a bundle if they had given.ngannou the same backing they gave mcgregor. But then again white has had it in for ngannou since he lost unexpectedly to miocic.

Wilder was like 212 the first fight but absolutely shredded. That was the one Tyson rose from death. Methinks Francis has more punch for Tyson to be so timid. Also the MMA striking can benefit at times he’s confident in throwing from unconventional angles. If Francis had stayed jabbing the body they would have had to give it to him but fun fight worth the 3 hour wait.

Okay, I don't care who's profiting, here's why I think this is a paid exhibition match with a predetermined outcome...

You know how you have a predetermined outcome? One guy is so significantly skilled better than the other, he just has to dance around and let the other guy work because there's 0 chance of him actually losing. In sparring we call that "letting the other guy work." Put yourself in bad spots and let them have at it but never let them have the actual W. That is obviously what was happening in that ring.

I wish Francis had knocked him out cold. But guess what? He couldn't because it was WWE and setting up future paydays without jeopardizing Fury's future paydays.

My argument would be that if you give those early rounds to Fury because he landed more shots and bigger ones, then those later close rounds should go to Ngganou for the same thing. In the end we had every single round short of the clear dominant ones by Ngannou go to Fury (I swear they said 97-93 live... not 96-93) on one judges score card and then a split with even scoring for each fighter.

I think when there are 1-3 strikes in it, you have to give it to the more effective strikes and the guy actually trying to box, as opposed to the busywork and clinching from Fury in the later rounds.

I think Francis edged it and the judge that gave it to him got it right.

It really is an example of what is wrong with boxing scoring to be honest. A guy lands 1-2 extra strikes that effectively meant nothing and somehow they award him the fight because jab? It's different if he was jabbing his face off, but it was purely a busywork style jab and most of Fury's strikes came in the clinch after they were broken up by the ref.

Francis could grab another bag wilder might look to box Francis.Tyson fucking fury fought timid the power is not a joke. And Tyson trains him he is a sponge. He will only look better he didn’t bite on any of Fury’s feints which I think fucked up Tyson mentally. Great fight

haha fair enough. Sorry but in the play by play topic I said this in like round 6 and got attacked by 17 different posters that I was hating on Francis and that he was winning and when the fight concluded a bunch of people posted “hahaha see loser!! Francis won!!” I kept saying he wasn’t gonna win the decision was gonna be a draw / split decision for fury And the moment the decision was read everyone disappeared lol

They can’t have him disrupt the Usyk fight this is boxing lol but now people can’t say shit about Francis.He was supposed to be slow and get slaughtered. Mike Tyson should coach more honestly.
