Multiplat Official Remnant II Discussion

That’s the least fun world, IMO, and a revisiting of the original game. The rest are bangers. You’ll love Losmon like Dink said. Max called it Yharnam for a reason and its Beatific Palace is an all-time standout for me – think haunting opulence.

Bleh roll to embark from there (Yaesha) but push through so as not to redo it. Root Rot sucks. That merchant Dink mentions is new to me and I’d explored everywhere. Game’s crazy like that; now l want to find him.
Lmao good to know. I was playing it like "what the fuck is everyone talking about? This is ass."

Dude, the game is so good that I'm sour you've had to run with a bad hand out the gate. You and I play most of the same stuff. You will feel this. Reroll at next login or even recreate char and skip tutorial.

Finally got a chance to play yesterday. Started Nightmare but re-rolled to veteran. Got to I think the final boss on ne rud and it's annoying but fun. Atmosphere and game play give me some Returnal vibes. I love the haunting music when enemies appear, super cool. Also, I like how the artifacts on the surface seem strange and make no sense until you head into a dungeon and trigger something. I love it. Game is a blast so far.

Scratch that, it was a dungeon boss. Flying worms lobbing poison at me. Now I've been going up and down this tower in circles for an hour.

Are the towers you're in old (and gaseous) or newer, more Victorian?

They're very old. The puzzle is removing red orbs from doors so you can unlock other doors. When you remove the orb, the doors lock.

should i switch back to Hunter? that's what i started with. Engineer doesn't seem to good for me because I don't even pick up the Heavy Weapons. I'm thinking of doing good old Hunter/ Medic or Hunter/ Gunslinger.

I haven't played with Hunter much, but everyone else seems to think he's a good starting archetype. There are some rings that give you buffs for summons and your dog counts as a summon, so be on the look out! I don't like playing Engineer either, it was a slog to unlock the Fortify trait with him.

Yeah, I want to discover them; appreciate your reservation there. The cryptic one that I likely won’t discover might be something I’m interested in getting a hint on, though. I like my Medic-Challenger plus Bleed mixup right now so not looking to overhaul char ATM.

All good! Some people enjoy the hunt. I found a secret area on accident the other day and ended up with some cool loot, so I get it.

Wait, Yaesha isn't the first world by default? I'm gonna reroll if that's the case. Area isnt fun thus far lol

Yaesha is cool if you're into the lore and played the first two games. It's the most visually stunning.

But the enemies are ass and the bosses (except one) are kind of lame. One of the world bosses has an alt kill with a top tier reward, but it's hard as fuck to do solo. The other has like 4 different items depending on how you initiate the fight.

Tons of great items hidden on the map as well. It's worth playing for all those goodies if you're like me and want to collect everything the game has. If not, its just kind of a slog.

100. I’m like a kid at Christmas when I see that purple loot aglow!

Anyone planning a hardcore run yet? I did it on the first game after many playthroughs, but not sure I can pull it off on R2. The Labyrinth Sentinels have my number. I can beat them fairly easily when the run goes well, but it always takes me a few goes to get the patterns down.

Only beat it up to veteran so far, but definitely want to go higher to unlock the higher level rewards.

There are a few safe zones you can get to that make Sentinel way easier to deal with.

At the entry point, you can just stay in front of the first cube until it gets to you and then run a circle around it as makes its turnaround in those four spaces. You can get most of the crystals broken from there before you venture out to get the last few.

Anyone take Challenger to lvl 10? Curious about later skills Juggernaut and Rampage.

Been liking War Stomp but not what I need most of the time and wondering if the class is a good investment. Love melee and proximity buffs though.

Entertaining dualling Medic and Explorer as I’m tired of being broke all the time. Have been up 7K scrap but 1-2 sessions later, am again skint.

Two areas of improvement from me. Agree or disagree?

  • For a looter shooter with fun exploration, opening chests needs more audio-visual impact; God of War, for example, crushed this and made any chest/treasure collection feel like the earth was a-rumble, that you were about to get your hands on a game-changer resource or weaponry.
  • Inventories need filters; Nioh suffered this too but Team Ninja learned from the first game and nailed it in the sequel; I would love to see my ring collection, for example, broken into offence, defence, support categories – or gear by weight, status effect resistances – or mods by utility cost.

Challenger/Medic is a great combination. Challenger as your primary means you get a second chance if you die. Juggernaut beefs up your damage reduction and melee damage. Rampage is great against mobs and increases in duration with damage dealt, and even has a second phase if you deal and/or take enough damage. That has some sick synergy with Medic's healing; Taking damage becomes a bonus.

My apoc run died at Venom. The one-shot mechanics went beyond frustrating to just maddening, so I'm going to speed my way to the end on nightmare and fight him a few times to get a better sense of sound cues and rhythm. Part of my problem was just getting used to tanking everything so now I have to re-learn how to play with more consistent evasion in my playstyle.

Away we go.

Edit:

I know you can cheese Venom into not attacking but that isnt how I want to beat the game on Apoc.

Those are always things these types of games should have. One thing Diablo IV got right was the loot sound. When something good drops, you know it. It makes a loud thump with a distinct sound.

Mad respect for the effort and now homework in avenging the loss.

Didn’t know there was a (spoiler) for Venom but his spear stab to close distance and aoe options were rough for me, FWIW. I really liked the mod component he drops though and used it quite a bit on my crossbow, which also radically transformed the crossbow aesthetic.

I abandoned the reroll and put a few hours into just learning him and remembering that's the nature of the game instead of letting the frustration get to me. I switched to a pure damage build that is going to make it quicker. I'm just working on execution at this point. I only need a single try to hit the dodges and then I'm done with him.

I started the reroll and then remembered how much effort went into the run and I genuinely just didn't want to fight all those bosses again, especially with the chance that they'd come with empathy/regen. I'd rather die to Venom 500 times than fight Nightweaver with Empathy AGAIN.

I don't know that I have the patience for this. The core gameplay is already apparent. Simply swarm them with enemies faster than they can shoot. I rerolled and got the Yharnam area too. The winged pricks are already irritating me lol.
