And combine them, as you can other items, at Nimue.

If folks haven't, pay attention to sleeping NPCs. Especially if you have the Dreamcatcher.

I didn't wanna spoil all the secrets but yeah, Nimue's Ribbon should be a staple of any tank/survivability build.

Also Nimue is Bae frfr.

Went back to Great Hall because of BEER’s remark and discovered another secret.

Much obliged, survivor. @BEER

The game is chock full of them, glad you found something new.

Apoc Annihilation is a real war of attrition. I ran out of relics with like 3 ticks of health left in the final phase just now. I know I've got this but unless I spec more into damage and get better at dodging, this is a solid 10-15 minute affair.

Almost there boys.

Fellas, it has been done. Apocalypse has been fuckin face-tanked.

In the spoilers, I'll give my build if anyone is interested in a true tank/melee build.

Medic as primary (You'll want to be able to regenerate relics during boss fights, especially the final bosses; I know it's tempting to use Challenger for his cheat death, but you'll be very salty if you run out of relics)
Challenger with Juggernaut (Rampage is good for mobs, but Juggernaut is king for boss fights)

Entire Leto Mark 2 armor set, except the gloves; If you've unlocked Archon, the Labyrinth gloves are slightly lighter but have a higher armor value.

Resonating heart for mobs, Crystal Heart for bosses. (I know Crystal Heart makes you feel stuck in mud, but the massive damage reduction will save your bacon)
You want the Mythic Health, Mythic Damage Reduction, and Mythic Healing Effectiveness fragments. Make sure to upgrade when you're playing higher difficulties. Mythic is a huge leap in quality.

Amulet; Twisted Idol (Extra armor effectiveness AND brings your weight down to 65, no flopping babyyy)
Blessed Ring
Ring of the Robust
Rerouting Cable
Hardcore Metal Band

Bark Extract for your concoction

Traits:
Triage 10
Strong Back 10
Regrowth 10
Fortify 10
Vigot 10
Spirit 10
Barkskin 10
Fitness 10
Expertise 5
Glutton 5

That basic Damage Reduction on that build is 72.7% before any buffs kick in. You'll basically smash the 80% cap any time you're actually fighting. With all the buffs, I hit 81.4% damage reduction at the firing range.

Weapons are really up to you. Damage isn't going to be your strong suit.

I mostly used the Blackmaw with Twisting Wounds mutator and Hot Shot mod
Hero's Sword
Enigma

But, I used a lot of different setups on the run. I didn't stick to anything religiously. The Crescent Moon is probably the best weapon in the game, but I can't hit the perfect timing consistently enough.

Some of the rings bounced around a bit as well. It's a lot of trial and error; What I listed is what I used for Root Earth. I know I said Crystal Heart for bosses, but I did run Annihilation with Resonating Heart, because it has a longer active time, so I didn't have to pause to use the relic so frequently. To counter Crystal Heart a little, you can use Nimue's Ribbon amulet to gain some movement speed after using Crystal Heart, but you'll want to swap Ring of the Robust for Ring of Omens so you can still roll. That setup looks like:

Nimue's Ribbon
Blessed Ring
Ring of Omens
Dense Silicon Ring (Free healing/mod generation for rolling, since Ring of Omen's charges grey health instead of stamina)
Hardcore Metal Band

Respect, B. Really enjoyed reading your build.

Is that the Hero’s Sword in your screengrab? Looks beastly.

No, that's the World's Edge, it's the sword you unlock by beating Apocalypse. The Hero's Sword is kind of a baby version of it. They both send out a ranged blast on charge; World's End is just way more powerful. Both of them are the only melee weapons that can hit flying targets (with the exception of the javelin and Krell's Axe, which are explicitly throwing weapons).

Thanks, bud. There was a lot of trial and error involved throughout the run, so the final build (the first one I listed) is by no means definitive. Play around with it and find whatever fits you best if you like the idea of a tanky build!

I’ve got 51 rings. How many does the krew have? I found out yesterday there are in total (a) rings to be found! Fire.

127

In the last update devs upped scrap drop rates. If hurting for scrap, reroll Losomn for palace (starting point) and vase/barrel-roll to your heart’s content. Just FYI for the krew.

I have 112. If I do anything else in this game, it will be to collect every piece of loot. Encouraging that there's only 15 rings to go. I dread doing a hardcore run, even on Veteran.

My little brother texted me and told me he bit the bullet and is downloading the game. Let's fucking GO. Can't wait to watch him die repeatedly.

Edit: Instead of spamming the thread, I'm just gonna add this here.

Idk what got into me but I decided to go full nerd and min-max the tank build and I've gotten better results that don't rely on challenger buffs so you can run any secondary you want.

Would anyone be interested if I recorded an Apoc boss fight where I just face-tank everything?

Sure, Let's see these skillz

Sure, Let's see these skillz

I'll do one tomorrow, I switched over to play a different game with my brother. The skill is in the build, I will not be rolling or dodging. I'm gonna eat every boss attack.

I'll probably do Tal Ratha since it's the fastest boss to get to if you know what you're doing.

I've run into a bug a few times tonight during which healing just doesn't work. Like I'll use a relic and then nothing happens. The relic is gone/wasted with no healing and no buffs from the relic itself. I was trying to get a video of the Tal Ratha fight but kept dying when my relics literally did nothing. It was weird. It happened when I was playing with my brother as well. Whack.

Edit: I should have been recording when I facetanked metaphysical tal ratha while playing with my brother. That went fine.

I dunno why the game sound wasn't recorded, so apologies for the silent film. I rolled Regen AND Empathy on Tal Ratha, so I did end up dying in the end because I ran out of relics. The build relies on the damage reduction of the relic, so I'd have to rebuild, be less tanky, and do far more damage against that broken combination.

But here's the fight. You can see just how much I can just eat like a fuckin cheeseburger.

Edit: Handler is incidental. I was just leveling, since it's the last archetype I haven't finished out yet.

Cool

Your health regen is definitely impressive

Finishing my second playthrough tonight. Savefile is orbiting some 65h and it's been super fun. I got my ring collection up to around 70, so I struggle to think of all the secrets in unlocking almost 2x that. Game is fire.

The unique game design from Gunfire has meant that an entire second playthrough had me redo very little; to say, almost all of it was new. I say that for those that didn't play the first game and want to know how much adventure they're getting for their money.

On char archetype, I completely ditched Medic for second journey and mained Challenger. My secondary switched between Explorer and Invader but Explorer was my safe choice while Invader, my F-around-and-find-out option. I feel like the game is (still) too frugal on currency drops and that really hurt build/WPN experimentation for me. Devs are always so scared to let us bang. Stupid. Power fantasy is good in this, though.

I feel some personal pressure to move on to Blasphemous II now with how stacked remainder of 2023 is but I feel good about where my char is at for DLC. Funny enough, I'm already looking past expansion and at Remnant III. LET'S GOOOOOO!

Plan on revisiting Platinum unlock when expansion drops because I'm only a few trophies shy – but they're nutcrackers.

Where you at in this, d? I remember you were wanting for i-frames. There's a trait you can unlock called Fitness that does something similar in augmenting dodge/evasion. No spoiler on where (unless you want) but wanted to throw that up for consideration. @deadshot138

The regen is secondary to the amount of health and the damage reduction (or Effective HP) that it takes to not just be one shot. No amount of regen can stop you from dying if a boss hits hard enough to just end you.

I've seen a lot of folks on reddit/YouTube making that mistake; Tons and tons of regen ability but their health is at like 120 with very little done for damage reduction. You can heal as much as you want but if a boss can do more damage than you have to give, you're just just dead.

Still in the Yharnam-Esque level. I died fairly far into the Ironsborough part and didn't feel like shooting everything again so I took a break.
