PlayStation's coffers of legacy IPs not forgotten per brother Hermen: (source in Japanese here)

“The numerous IPs that we hold are an important asset for PlayStation, and as part of our efforts to strengthen our portfolio, not only developing new franchises, we are also continually looking at opportunities to leverage our legacy IP.”

Time to watch is 1m 47s:

I am still mildly buttsore about the fact this game didn’t win more awards. The world is so vast but beautiful at the same time. You can walk, run, ride, climb, rope traverse, swim, fly almost anywhere and switch in and out seamlessly. From a technical standpoint this game is GOAT level and a standard all other developers should be aiming for.

Couldn’t agree more. Never seen any game, any platform develop a more immersive world. This was one of those games I’d lose myself hunting and just being…there. And I hated the first game. Forbidden West is a masterpiece.

So you're telling me we are getting a new Jet Moto??

I played the original Horizon on PC and fell in love. I specifically bought a PS5 to be able to play the sequel- and it did NOT disappoint.

Sick. Thanks.
It’s live service. I don’t know if that kills your hype but it certainly did for me. As of now I’m way more excited for Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It’s a single player action game and features some really awesome looking creatures. Some of the boss design reminds me of the first Nioh game, specially the woman boss reminds me of yuki-onna and the electrical dog looking thing from the third stage in Nioh. Here’s a couple trailers.

Feeling this. Thanks. Nioh’s my baby and good catch with Yuki-Onna. Quite a few Nioh foe resemble the trailer’s woman boss, like Ryomen Sukuna and Yure-Onna from Nioh 2; must be an art direction thing. Do we yet know if this is more a bumpered-level boss rush or open world design? Who’s developing?

Leenzee is the developer, 505 Games is the publisher. I can't find much on them except their studio is in Chengdu, China. It looks like most Chinese devs have some experience with mobile games and are finally breaking into the AAA space. This is probably their first big game very similar to Game Science with Wukong. A bit more excited for this one, something about a mute monkey protagonist made it hard for me to get as hyped. I just hope it doesn't run like absolute shit. A lot of these Chinese games run on UE5 and target high-end PCs. I heard the PS5 Pro version of Black Myth is pretty bad which is a shame. I will definitely wait to see what Digital Foundry says about this before I purchase.

Regarding whether it's open world. This is the response I got when searching google:

"Shape the Open World – While you are navigating through interconnected open world environments you will discover chisel fragments and journal scraps that change the story and lead to one of several potential endings."

Maybe more like Dark Souls? That's what I'm getting out of that statement. No idea though, maybe it is truly open world. Probably going to give more information when closer to a release date. It's going to be on Xbox Gamepass but I can't help myself and buy these games for the trophies.

Well, after weeks of searching I managed to snag a PC adapter for my PSVR2. They’re perpetually sold out on Amazon and Best Buy, but when I was going to bed last night I saw a thread on Reddit from a fellow Canadian saying they had success getting their hands on one at London Drugs, so I checked their availability online. None of the stores in Edmonton had any in stock, but a London Drugs in a smaller town about 10 minutes outside the city limits did, so I picked it up this afternoon. Then I went to Best Buy to pick up a DisplayPort to USB-C cable only for that to be sold out there, but I found one at the nearby Staples.

And after all the speculating we did @Madmick about whether or not the USB-C port on the side of my laptop really was DP compatible and connected to my laptop’s GPU am happy to report that IT DOES WORK and I was able to fire up Half-Life Alyx for a few minutes tonight. So all is right in the world.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to keep my eye out for a PS5 disc drive which are equally as hard to find as the PC adapter was, but if I can find one I’ll pick it up, and then will buy myself a Pro for my 40th birthday in May.

Nice glad you got that to work. Looking forward to updated impressions.

Regarding the PS5 disc drive- keep your eye on the Sony website. I bought my Pro a few weeks ago from a local Target, ordered the disc drive from Sony the same day and it arrived just a few days later, so they do have stock available at times.

I don’t believe ordering directly from Sony is an option for Canadians.

I traded it my vanilla PS5 disc edition to Gamestop and got $250 in store credit for it. Used that to get some games and by some magical math the custoemr service guy told me I got an extra $10 my purchase.

Probably coulda gotten a little more in cash if I had gone through back market, but then I'd have to ship to them, then hope they do evaluate the console properly (it was in flawless condition) and I had to give them my bank details... nahhhh

Could have gone the Craigs List route but prices are all over the map and I don't feel like risking getting ganked in a parking lot.

All in all just glad I got something for it. Now that I think about it I do have some older GPUs that are still good, wonder if I can get any money for those..

@Valhoven vampire survivors is on the ps5. One of the few games I wanted to play but couldn't.

Gonna try it after I finish my elden ring run.

You've confirmed PSVR2 doesn't require Displayport 1.4's peak bandwidth as a minimum because I am certain based on the manual and your laptop's model that the USB port doesn't provide it.

It appears Google AI answer misled us both. Pushsquare shows the official specifications, and USB 3.0+ (no gen specified) is named as the either/or to DP 1.4:
A separate page indicates only 10 Gb/s is the minimum:

I’m not sure why Pushsquare would say that USB 3.0 is an either/or to DisplayPort, because it’s actually “and”. When all hooked up the adapter has its own power supply, and the headset connects to the adapter via USB-C. Meanwhile the adapter connects to a PC via both a USB 3.0 and DisplayPort (or in my case a DisplayPort to USB-C cable) simultaneously.

Either way, according to Google the data transfer speed of the PSVR2 is only 10 Gbps so I was willing to spend the time and money on this “experiment” to see if it would work, and luckily it did. The PSVR2 was my Christmas gift from my wife, so I’m glad I’ll be able to get a lot more mileage out of it and not miss out on the medium’s only real “killer app” in Half-Life Alyx.

Gotcha. This was the Google that was returned to me when I asked about bandwidth that led me astray. I didn't really look into it more deeply than that because I saw DP 1.4 was indeed listed on official spec sheets, so I focused my attention on figuring out the exact fabrications of your laptop:
