$700 and I need to spend $80 on a disc drive? Think I’m good for now.

Oof. Had a PS4 Pro. Was planning on getting one of these as I'd like to have a second PS5 in the house. Not sure the $700 is worth it. May just get a slim instead.

No full tech specs in that video was a decision....

Yea seeing a lot of people turned off by the price. Good I hope there are no issues with buying a preorder now. This is day 1 for me but I'm a bit annoyed because I was going to replay TLOU2 next but now I need to wait.

Those prices are hideous considering it doesn’t come with a disc drive or even a STAND.

I looked up the conversion, $700 USD is $950 Canadian, so we’ll see if it’s priced at that or higher or lower here.

That’s going to be a no from me dawg.

I’m ok with the $700, it’s a premium item. The disc drive not being included is a bit insulting.

I’m probably down. It’s 100 more than I expected but I also didn’t think they’d put an extra TB of memory on there so it really is kind of 600 dollars since buying memory tend to be pricey. Maybe this is a weird justification but whatever. We’ve got 4 years left and I’m tired of choosing between fidelity and performance.

Bought a grade A Slim (disc) for $175 cash.

Debated waiting for a $599 price point.

Plus if you sell your old PS5 it's not even that much anymore. Not sure if I'll sell mine because my son is harassing me for mine all the time but not sure I'm ready to give him a console yet.

I already saw a few games that are PS5pro enhanced DD2, Alan wake 2, TLOU2. All games I want to play soon so yea day 1.

Good Point. Will be interesting to see how they sell when the time comes. It's also pretty close to Christmas which might cause more people some issues. I come from a family of gift givers and Christmas is always a struggle.

It’s just too much of a price jump to justify. I mean I can afford it for sure, but trying to rationalize it, when I paid $650 Canadian for my PS5 at launch, if I was going to replace it with a Pro and pay $900+ Canadian (we haven’t even seen Canadian pricing yet afaik, could be $1000 Canadian for all we know) and then to have to fork over $100 Canadian for a disc drive and then $40 Canadian for a stand too. I was interested in the Pro but not if it could cost be up to $1140 Canadian to get one with a disc drive and stand when my base one was $650 and included a disc drive and a stand.

I’m not sure what the resale value is for a PS5 but I’m speculating I’d take a bit of a haircut on my PS5 if I tried to sell it and probably only get like $400-500 at most and then be left having to fork out more than the cost of a base PS5 to get the pro.

In my nativity I had thought I could sell my base PS5 and the only have to fork out an extra $300-400 to be up and running with a Pro and the “accessories” I want (disc and stand) but not upwards of $700.

I'll wait a few years until its $500.
By then plenty of developers will have optimized PS5 games to take full advantage of the PS5-Pro's additional performance... hopefully.

I owned a PS4-Pro, and there were hardly any games that took advantage of its additional performance over the PS4.

So all this years-long hype for the PS5-Pro may not be for anything significant. If you want to buy a more expensive PS5 then you can buy a more expensive PS5.

Guys you don’t have to buy every IPhone either. It’s an option. Too many people look at this as some sort of necessity and FOMO is making them go nuts. Skip it and wait for PS6 then. No harm in doing that, games are still enjoyable on the base ps5. I think some of us need to remember that tons of people still don’t even own a ps5 and for that group especially this is a good buy

Yep I honestly don't even need this. I think the PS5 is great and that games look great. When it comes to gaming though this is the one area I give myself free reign to spend money as I want to.

To be fair most people couldn’t understand a thing Cerny said in his 50 minute ps4 pro video. Me included. I’m sure that’s why they went this route

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect a price drop for a long, long time, maybe even never (or at least until the PS6 is out). The base PS5 has never gone down in price and in fact increased by €50 in Europe and ¥5,000 in Japan in 2022, and recently Japan just got ANOTHER price increase on the base PS5 to ¥80,000.

Welcome to inflation gentlemen.

I'll buy one used then.
