I haven't seen anyone mention this yet but what are you all predicting from Sony this year? It could be anything game or news related.

Here are some of mine.

1. Stellar Blade releases but scores lower than people were expecting. Game ends up being a huge success anyway which leads to Sony purchasing this studio. I'm thinking it will be this year's Lies of P, slightly underrated in the reviews but loved by gamers.

3. A PS5/PSVR2 AstroBot game gets announced for 2025 at a PS showcase during the first half of this year.

4. I predict a second studio will join Sony and that will be Arrowhead studio. Helldivers II gets positive reviews and we all know Sony wants someone that can make good live service games.

6. Last prediction although I'm slightly less confident about this one but I think there's a chance that one of them or all of them could announce new IP. Whether we actually get gameplay footage or not is questionable. Those studios are Bluepoint, Naughty Dog, and Santa Monica. The latter is least likely but we heard rumors of God of War spinoff and a sci-fi game in the works.

1 - Not so sure on that, Tencent own 20% of the studio

3 - Asabi said they are working on their most ambitious project yet, looking forward to that

4 - Yeah i think Arrowhead is definitely a possibility , probably a situation like Housemarque where its official after the Helldivers release

6 - Yeah i'd say Bluepoint at least, maybe the other 2 later in the year maybe even Game Awards time. Looking forward to Corey's sci-fi game

Oh didn’t know that about Tencent. That’s a shame.

I actually don't expect Stellar Blade to be all that good. It looks pretty, but I just have that itch on the back of my neck that says something is not right.

Will still play it though, and my neck itches are not exactly accurate.

2. Sony will unfortunately not have a first party game nominated for Game of the Year. I believe that hasn't happened in 10 years or so.

4. I predict a second studio will join Sony and that will be Arrowhead studio. Helldivers II gets positive reviews and we all know Sony wants someone that can make good live service games.

5. Bend Studio's new IP gets revealed at a showcase this year. Just seems ready to happen based on the "we're cooking" comment on Twitter.

I would love to hear from the talent at Bluepoint! Prediction (2) is heresy. Never!

Sony automatically refunding PS4 owners who paid full price for TLoU2 instead of using cheaper upgrade path, reports VGC team:

It seems some players weren’t aware that there’s an upgrade path that allows owners of the last-gen version to buy the new PS5 one for $10 / £10.

With that in mind, it’s claimed that Sony has begun automatically refunding players who purchased The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered at full price if they already own the digital PS4 version of The Last of Us Part 2.

“As an owner of the PS4 digital version of The Last of Us Part II, a digital upgrade to the PS5 digital version will be available at a deeply discounted price on launch day 19/1/24,” a message sent to players reportedly reads.

“We don’t want you to lose out on that opportunity so, as a gesture of good will, we have refunded your purchase for the pre-order of the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered so that you may purchase the digital upgrade on launch day.

...

“Rest assured that by purchasing the digital upgrade, you will also receive any pre-order bonuses included in your original pre-order. The refund amount is paid back to your original payment method.

“This may take up to 60 days to appear on your statement. If for any reason we are unable to issue the refund to your original payment method, the amount will be credited to your PlayStation Network wallet.”

Doesn't TLOU2 already run at 60 fps and (checkerboard) 4k on PS5?

You might want to check your PS5 then. The main thing I've noticed about remote play in general (PC or console) is that the PC or console needs a good connection. Ethernet is the best if not that then 5ghz wifi. I would do your best to make sure your PS5 has a wired connection. If your iphone is having issues there's a high chance you'll have the same issue with Steam Deck.

Its wired to my TP Link Deco XE75Pro satellite. The PS5 recognizes it as wired and I get super fast speeds on it, but it's not technically wired if that makes sense.

I mean sadly it’s going to be true. Do they even have a first party game lined up for 2024? This year will be announcements and 25 and 26 will be stronger years for first party releases. I think they taking more time for new IP

This might be the issue. Wifi (even great wifi) just isn't as good for remote play. What I would do is move your PS5 straight to your main router where the internet comes in and connect directly to that. Even if it's not a convenient spot it will be just for testing. You don't even need a monitor (I don't think at least). Just power and ethernet to the PS5. Try the remote play on your app then. If it works great well then you know where the issue is at least.

I'll give that a shot. When I leave I may just have to me it to our router. It's pretty far from where my PS is.

Looks like there maybe more in the kitty for a possible future game related purchase as Sony pulled the plug on a $10bn merger in India with Zee Media Group (deal was in motion for over 2 years)

Probably a smart move by Sony. There's some Cope going around with these guys but untimely it sounds like Zee's & Goenka's fault. He's under investigation and Sony didn't want him in any executive capacity. Sounds like his ego got in the way. To make matters worse, Zee's minority shareholders are seeking to oust Goenka. What a bone headed move by these guys if I'm being honest.

This is the kind of trailer I’ve been wanting. Looks wonderful.

Finally! Been waiting. My goodness, this looks fun. Reminds me in part of Warframe.

Yea this is what I was wanting also. Looks great. If it wasn't FF7 rebirth I'd be picking this up.
It’s an online game, I don’t see how that interferes with rebirth. You just play it for 30 to 40 minutes at a time whenever you feel like it.
